Re: The Key Family (Francis Scott, etc)
When I was a little girl in the 50's I remember playing with a boy my age who my mom said was the grandson?? of Francis Scott Key. This was around Decatur Ga. So the boy would have been born around 1948. Can you tell me who this might of been and his relationship to Francis Scott Key? If I remember correctly, his name was the same. Thanks.

Hi Betty,
Sorry it took so long to answer. I am wondering if it is in the same family because my grandmother's name was Eliza Jane. Charlie Key and his first wife had a daughter which was my great grandmother. When she married my great grandfather, she was shuned by Charlie because he thought she had married beneath her. She married a Reeder. Charlie's wife still brought my grandmother to their home and he did get to know her. My great grandmother passed away when my grandmother was about a year old. At the time Charlie had a stone quory and my grandmother remembered watching out the window the big loads of gravel going up and down the road beside the house. Not sure how long after that that Charlie and my great great grandmother divorced. He then remarried and had more children.
If any of this sounds familiar or if you know of anything else please let me know.
Thanks

My Grandfather, Benjamin Harrison Key, and my Grandmother lived in KY and later in Indiana. Grandpa said his family is related to Francis Scott Key and can be proven by a family Bible that did exist in KY. I would love to see if we can put this together.....
I just found this message from you.

Hi Janice,
My mother’s family is from Mayfield KY and has Keys in it: 1. John Baker Key born 1826, who married Pharabah Isabell Adams born July 23, 1833. 2. William Henry Clay Key born 1868 who married Virginian Greenville Anderson born 1852.
My aunt visited My Old Kentucky Home years ago and saw a picture on the wall of the Francis Scot Key family and her aunt was in it.
Thanks, Greg
Do you know of the Mayfield Key connection to Francis Scott Key?

caylasgrandma, My grandmothers name is Eliza Bell Reeder. Her grandfather was Charles Key and he owned a quarry.. His daughter Ora Mae Key married Joseph Thomas Reeder. Charles also shunned Ora Mae for marrying a Reeder. Ora Mae passed away when my grandmother was 2. She too talked about the quarry trucks going up and down the road. I would like to talk to you more. Sounds like we are talking about the same people. Please contact me !
