My great grandfather's mother's maiden name was Kevern, first name Alice. She married one Michael Chinn. On my grt grandfather's death certificate it stated his parents were Michael Chinn Alice Kevern. Both parents were from England. Their son John Henry Chinn (b. Jan 1861)came to the US in 1881 and lived somewhere in the East before coming out to California (Grass Valley Jackson)where he made his home and had a family. He lived in the east maybe 5 to 10 yrs prior to coming to California. His family history is totally a mystery ...had a lot of money, bought land hotels during the gold rush. Did find a family that might be related to him ... There is a Loveday KEVERN (m.3 Oct 1844)to William RICKARD. Whether or not Loveday and my Alice were sisters(? or of the same family) I have no proof. Reason why I suspect this family, is that John Chinn's wife Lily Jane Glasson (b.6 Jan 1869/?16 May 1869) was married prior and had a son named William Rickard Jr. Does this sound familiar??

kevern ancestry in Illinois
I have information regarding Kevern's coming to the U.S., my Great Great Grandfather, in the 1830's settling in IL. If interested, I can pass this information along and would like to know when other Kevern's came to this country and where they settled. Also have information regarding St Keverne, the Priest from whom we inheret our name.

My grandmother was Susan Kevern, the daughter of John Kevern and Anna Luke. She married James Allen of Camnborne. She came to Bessemer Michigan in about 1892. My father, William John Allen was born in 1886. Two brothers of Susan also came to Bessemer, Richard and Joseph Four other siblings stayed in Camborne. I have some information about the families here in the US but not much about those in Cornwall.

The Loveday in the marriage I believe from my research is the daughter of William Kevern and Elizabeth Pearce, there is no Alice in the family that I have found so far but there is an Ann b. 1808 which would make her to old for your Alice. There is however an Alice b. 1831 to James Kevern and Margaret Pearce Sharon
