Surnames: Kevan,
I too am researching the KEVAN(D)s family. Mine start in SW Scotland

Carrick Gallovidian is a Genealogical Chart pertaining the families of Kevan of Galloway and Carrick (Scotland) compiled by John Kevan-McDowall. The source of the information is not given so needs to be checked.

The only KEVAN that I have in the US is Samuel Kevan who emigrated in approx 1909. I have found him in Wiscosin, possibly in Rome Georgia and definitely in Los Angeles CA where he died. He had two childen Samuel and Margaret. Would dearly love to find out whether they are still alive or who their descendants are.

As one of only a few of the Kevans still alive in Scotland, my father's father was born in Newton Stewart in the Galloway area. Early record show on our family tree which we had traced back to 810AD linking us to the British Royal Family and back to the Norwegian King Olaf. Our family used to own a castle many decades ago called Machamore actually I can't spell the Gaelic for it, our name is recorded by the Lyon King of Arms as a true Scots name. I have also read history that most of our family were martyred during the Episcopal vs Presbyterian "fight" our family being strong Presbyterians.

I live in Glasgow and am one of 5 brothers we still have a copy of the family tree professionally drawn by one of my fathers cousins Robert Kevan McDowall a scots solicitor, he told us when we were younger some 25 - 30 years ago the Queen Mother Queen Elizabeth was also related to us and that she had a copy of the family tree. The copy we have starts from 810AD and goes up to the 1950's and it is huge like a long tightly rolled roll of wall paper. If anyone would like to contact me feel free.
