Looking for information on a Michael (Mc)KEVIN from Tipperary, Ire (about 1830). I think he dropped the "Mc" around 1840. Looking for his wife, Susan's, maiden name.

There were many ways that the name was spelled. KEEVAN, KEVAN, KEVIN, and any other permutation on the letters KVN. Before 1870, many of them had a Mc in front of the name. I am interested to know more about your Frances. I lost track of a William KEVIN agout 1890. Maybe he was you great grandfather. Let me know.

I have a William KEEVAN, born 1850 in Pennsylvania. Father is Micheal McKEEVAN, born 1806 in Tipperary, Ireland and his mother was Susan LAWRENCE, born 1808 in Pennsylvania. I believe Michael dropped the Mc in the 1840's. Any help?

You can also include CAVAN, KEVAND. KEVIN tends to be used in Ireland.
When I found my Gt Uncle Samuel KEVAN who emigrated to the US his name had become McKEVAN although the family in Scotland had never had this prefix. I wonder if it was because he was a Scotsman that he became known as Mc(Kevan)

Keevan is a family in Carrick-on-suir, Co. Tipperary. There are only a few Keevans left and we are all related but in 1798 a census which is held at the British Museum shows a lot of Keevans living in the area at the time. I am not aware of variations in the spelling apart from my Uncle who spelt his name Keevin. A common family name was Edmund. We think a lot of the family emigrated to America but do not know what happened to them. I was born in Carrick-on-suir and my father was Edmund as was my grandfather. Replies appreciated if you can help with further information about the Carrick Keevans.
