Re: Ketcher's from Stilwell, OK
Hi Caroline! My name is Doug Ketcher & I was born in Stilwell. My grandfather was Herb and I knew (Great) Uncle Russ fairly well. He was my dad's favorite uncle (Don Ketcher) and my brother Russell was named after him. I'm in the military currently stationed in Germany. Anyway, my daughter & I have been doing a little research on the 'net about the Ketchers. Far as I can tell, our lineage goes about; John Ketcher/Laura Bell Hughes, Jefferson Ketcher/Susan Bradford, Richard Tickaneesky (Ketcher)/Susie, Tickaneesky Still/Sue Eaksey, George Still/Catheron Downing, which takes us back to the 1770s. I'm not 100% sure on this, so if you have heard something different, I'd love to hear it. Also, I'm looking into 1). Why the Stills/Tickaneeskys changed their names to Ketcher and 2). Why they moved to Okla. I belive they originally lived in Georgia/NC area. Did they come on the Trail of Tears? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I hope I hear back from you! - Doug K.

Re: Ketcher's from Stilwell, OK
This is really strange! I have an uncle named John D Ketcher. (He died a few months ago) He has a son named Russell and a son named Michael. But he also has two other sons and a daughter. And his wife's (ex-wife, actually) was named Betty. What are the odds of that? Make sure when you research you don't get mixed up with the wrong family. Regards, Jaye Deen
