My side of the Ketcher's (Tah-Ne-Yun-Ta/Johnson/Isaac/John) came from Shooting Creek, NC. Tah-Ne-Yun-Ta was the sole survivor on the Trail Where They Cried. The Ratler family took my gggrandfather and raised him around Grove, Indian Territory (Oklahoma). After the Civil War he married their youngest daughter, Sa-la-ta (Charlot). Johnson was one of the first full blood Cherokee US Marshalls for the Indian Territory. Not for sure if there is any connection with your side. What have you found about the Tickaneesky/Ketcher story?
John

I am the granddaughter of John Catcher (Ketcher aka Tickahneesky) from Stilwell, Oklahoma. He was married to Millie Brock. Both are buried in the Ketcher Cemetary in Stilwell. They had five children: JohnAnn, Theora, Dale, Charles and Garland. John Catcher was the son of Susie Walkingstick and John Ketcher, both are also buried in the Ketcher Cemetary. My grandfather told us that Ketcher is the English name for Tickahneesky (multiple spellings throughout our family). The reason that they changed the spelling from Ketcher to Catcher is because there were multiple Ketchers in the area all using the same post office so in order to distinguish one from the other, they needed to change the spelling of their names, hence Catcher.

We have a picture of my great grandfather, John Ketcher, great grandmother Susie Walkingstick and their daughter. I don't remember her name but she has passed.

My grandfather is on the Dawes Roll, as is his brother, Charlie and I'm sure his Dad. They were given land allotments at that time. I'll have to ask my mother and Aunt, the only surviving children of my grandparents, more questions.
