Hi Uncle Ross,
Thank you for your information you gave me! It's good to hear from you. I think you'll like ancestry.com; there is a lot of information you can get out of it. I did not know that J.D. and Ross were named after John Ross. I'm interested to hear you have done research on the Ketchers. I started off knowing almost nothing about them, but figured out a lot. I can tell that you've done a great job with your Ketcher research, and you've worked hard to find it (that must have been quite interesting going to Oklahoma).
Something that interests me about the Ketcher ancestry that I don't think I have mentioned is that they have distant Jewish roots. Isaac's maternal grandmother, Mima Cooper, is believed to have been Jewish. I thought this was interesting.
I think you will enjoy this site a lot. It has been very helpful to my research so far. Thank you for your info and I hope you are doing well. We'll hope for Grandma and Grandpa to get better.
Love,
Thomas

Hi Uncle Ross,
How are you doing? I am trying to buy Mabel Ketcher's social security application to find out the names of her mom and dad. Just to make sure, do you have a copy of it by any chance? I didn't assume that anybody in the family already had it but I'm not positive. If I get a copy of it, which I probably will, I will send you a copy if you are interested. I'm getting a copy of sent from Baltimore, Maryland. Just so I'm sure I'm getting the right info, I was wondering if you happen to her her birthdate and where she died. Roots.web shows previews of the documents with limited information for free that shows her birthday as 12/2/1907 and says she died in Pryor, Mayes, OK on 8/8/1988.
My mom, sister and I visited Grandma and Grandpa in Nevada last week. We all got to see Grandpa in the hospital. He was tired but was glad to see us. He is not eating much but still really likes coffee and drinks a lot of it. We bought him a fisherman's hat as a gift that he wore in the hospital (we're hoping that he will be able to be fishing again when he gets better). Grandma is doing much better. We hope that Grandpa gets better and that Grandma stays well. They are wonderful grandparents and I wish for the best for them.
Love,
Thomas

Surnames: Ketcher, Walker, Cavitt, Sexton
Hi Uncle Ross, this is Thomas. How are you doing? I just got a copy of Mabel Ketcher's social security application in the mail that she filled out in 1946. She lists on it her parents' names. Her father was named Octave Charley Walker & her mother was named Della Mandy Cavitt. They would be your great-grandparents and my great-great grandparents. I've done research on them and found out interesting things on their family. Mabel's paternal grandparents were Jonathan & Sarah Walker & her maternal grandparents were George & Mary (Sexton) Cavitt. Her grandfather George Cavitt was a preacher & a shipbuilder. I've found photos online of George & his wife Mary. I have traced the Cavitt family back to Scotland in the 1700's. I have more info on the family I can give you if you want, and I can send you an invite to my tree if you're interested. I'll also e-mail you a copy of Mabel's application if you want. I hope that this is interesting and that you had a nice Christmas.
Love,
Thomas

Surnames: Ketcher, Stingale
Hi Uncle Ross, it's Thomas. How are you doing? I was wondering if you have any info on Ross Ketcher's first wife and daughter. Grandma mentioned that he was married to somebody else in the 1940's and I've been trying to find info on that. Jon Ketcher said her name was Peggy Stingale but I have'nt been able to locate any records on her yet. I hope you are doing well. Thanks, Thomas

Isaac Ketcher was my grandfather and his son John, my dad, named me John (1949) and my brother Ross (1950-51). My dad did not pass on any of the Cherokee tradition or stories because of the stigma back then, otherwise I would have named my second son Ross instead of Samuel. I've also discovered, through the help of my cousin Carolyn in Grove from Levi's line that Tah-Ne-Yun-Ta's father was Wi-Waw-Se-Ty and mother Na-ke and children Da-Ga-Taw-ka, Claw-shin-na and Da-Gin-na. Can you and any more to any of the above?
