john ketcham/ ketchum (&variant spellings) onslow co., N.C.
Hi! I am looking for descendants of John Ketcham (wife-Nancy) of Onslow county, North Carolina. Some of his children were Augustus, Allen Edward, Stephen, Jackson and Elizabeth (possibly married Addison White). I am thinking of starting a yahoo group for John's descendants so we can share information and photos, etc. (Maybe someone will join who has access to old ketchum photos or records and we can get them to scan it to the files!) Email me if these names look familiar and/or you would be interesed in joining. Thanks! Lisa Mc.

Hi! Sorry about that! I forgot to put dates. The 1850 Onslow County, NC census says that (my) John Ketcham was born about 1803 in N.C. (So he's about 47 yrs old on the 1850 census.)

Hi Lisa. My husband's Ketchum family line came from Onslow Co. NC. I have a lot of information to share if you have started the Yahoo site. Do you have a Reverend Jonathan Ketchum and Judge Jonathan Ketchum in your line! Sue

Hi! I haven't started the site yet. You are the first person to ask about it actually! I guess noone is researching the same line I am researching! Although, I have heard of the Judge Jonathan Ketchum line( descended from Daniel Ketchum, one site states) Who are you descended through? John/Jonathan is such a common name, I do not know exactly who my John's parents are. I found the will of Judge Jonathan Ketchum online and thought what if his son Jonathan is my John? Do you know anything about this son? Thanks! Lisa

Re: john ketcham/ ketchum (&variant spellings) onslow co., N.C.
My husband's line came from Jonathan's line. Daniel Ketchum/Ketcham married Easter Ketchum. No last name found on her. Their children were Jonathan [b] 1712 Sarah 1715 Micaich 1717 Mary 1721 David 1723 Easter 1727 Daniel 1730
Judge Jonathan Ketchum was married twice. 1st to Elizabeth Hawkins and they had 7 children. David 1785, Anna 1788, Polly 1791-1809, William 1794, Sally 1796, Alice 1799, Solomon 1804. Then Judge Jonathan married Linnzie Hewitt and they had 3 children. Rev.Jonathan Ketchum 1812, Elizabeth 1814, Phoebe 1816. Rev. Jonathan Ketchum married Elizabeth Lloyd My husband's 3rd Great Grandfather "William A.Ketchum" was the son of Rev.Jonathan Ketchum. William married Sarah ann Freshwater and in 1870 William Ketchum died while Sarah was pregnant with my Husband's 2nd Great grandfather Walter Ketchum who was born in 1871 and Sarah Freshwater had remarried Walter Taft. Check out the 1880 Census. You will see Walter Taft, Sarah Taft, and the children listed all have the Ketchum last name. I am still trying to find my records. I am moving and of course I can't find the right box. I have more information and will post as soon as I find it. Susan

I have read online that one of Daniel and Esther's sons David m1 Mary Morford and m2 Anna Wall (Walls and Morfords are found in SW PA during this period). Also a Daniel Ketchem is shown as an early resident of the area.
