Adam Keränen (dob July 27, 1876; dod Dec. 2, 1958) was my grandfather. I know very litle about his life before coming to the USA in 1897. My mother & aunts said he did not talk about the "old country nor any relatives there". I received a little information from someone in Finland and they listed his parents as: Juho Keränen, 1833-1901 and Hedvig/Heta Sofia Nissinen, 1843-1914. Siblings that came to USA are listed as Josefina Lämpsä, Juho/John?, Heikki/Henry? & Jenny Hilja. Somewhere I have that there was a Hanna who also came to America but no proof as of yet.
Adam married twice, he had 5 children with Mary Lahti (unsure of maiden name) and 7 children with Emily Tulppo, my mother being the last child.
If any of this information connects us maybe we can check what each of us know and help with the unknown facts.
I can be e-mailed direct at: sec412@ameritech.net.
I sure hope we have a connection as I have not found anyone else working on this Keränen line.

Margaret, I had a whole long thing typed out to you and of course, I lost it. So, I'll do my best to repeat what I said and if it does not get there, please email me at conlynker@hotmail.com. Lauri R. Keranen was born May 4, 1913 in Alston to the parents of Charles and Anna Johanna Juntunen, now I believe she was born in Oulu, Finland on July 15, 1868 and died Sept. 1939. He was a member of numerous bands such as the Wolveine Night HAwks and also played the string bass in his daughter Kristine's Country Blues. She is the only surviving child. He lost two sons, one Kevin Keranen died in 2002 and Delbert in 1981. He has numerous grandchildren. I found is obit online at one of the sites for The Daily Mining Gazette. He died Sat. Dec. 14, 2002 in Alston. I hope this helps. I'm still searching for some info on his familyand hope to get some info when go to Michigan in a week and hopefully see Marianne. I hope this helps you out some. Once I get more info, I'll be happy to send it out to you.

Just checking if you received a post I had made on the 17th or 18th of June. I am not sure if we have a connection or not. We could check a few names and facts and check it out. I did receive a reply from someone in Sweden and it appears we have connections. My first break through in my Keränen line! You can e-mail me privately at:sec412@ameritech.net

Good evening Sharon,

It's going alright,I still have some questions, been working more on the Alatalo side lately. What information do you have on the Keranen side? You are more than welcome to email me at conlynker@hotmail.com if you have anything you would like to share.

Thank you!

Connie

I'll send an e-mail, hopefully later today.
The fact that you had Alatalo mentioned in this message really had me wondering!
My G. Uncle, Daniel Tulppo, married a Clara AlatalA in 1905.
I also found where he had 3 children with Clara but can find no trace of them after the 1910 census (only 2 children listed on it).
I found Uncle Dan's obit while helping cousins go thru papers from my aunt and that is how I know about the 3rd child.
