WARREN, Ohio - Darla Jean Michael, 73, passed over very peacefully on Halloween morning, Oct 31, 2014 at Signature Health Nursing Center, with her family being able to give their loving good-byes.
She was born Feb. 10, 1941, in Roaring Spring, PA., (Blair County) the daughter of the late John and Pearl Irene Adams Kephart.
In the late 1950s, Darla moved to Girard, Ohio, with her husband, George Michael, so that he could get a job at Republic Steel.
She was a stay-at-home mom for four years, until George passed away on Dec. 2, 1977, and she then worked several years as a home health aide.
Darla is survived by two sons, Alan (Debbie) Michael of McDonald, Ohio and Jesse (Trina) Michael of Girard, OH; one daughter, Cindy (Ken MacPherson) Michael of Warren, Ohio; six grandchildren, Steve Michael Jr., Cristin (Justin) Carlisle, Joe Pizzulo, Elayna (Brian) Wagner, Mike Sears and Crystal Kaczmark; 13 beloved great-grandchildren, Alijiah and Joryan Pizzulo, Darian Dole, Tristin Brister and Ryann Carlisle, Nate, Alexis and Brian Wagner, Nicky Rupert and AJ Kaczmark, Tori Sears, Syndey Knight and Tiana Morian; one sister, Sherrie (Robert) Frarnell of Martinsburg, Pa.; two brothers, Den (Anne) Kephart of Roaring Spring and Larry (Darlene) Kephart of Austintown, Ohio; and beloved cousins, Janice (Russell) Helsel and Lois Adams.
Besides her parents, Darla was preceded in death by her eldest son, Steve; a granddaughter, Sarah Lacey Pizzulo; a grandson, John Pizzulo; two great-grandsons, Christian Pizzulo and Mason Cross; and a brother, Daniel.
Darla will be remembered for ability to be a “tough cookie” at times, her sense of humor and her giving nature to those in need.
The family thanks the caring staff of Signature Nursing Home and All Caring Hospice for the kindness and compassion shown to Darla while she was in their care.
The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren.
