William Franklin Kephart married Elizabeth Russell in Clay County Missouri. He was Born in 1832, and He died in 1907 in Holt, Missouri. He was Buried at Kearney Mo according to his obit. I am Primarily Working ON the Russell Line, But am Very very Interested in the Decendents of William And Elizabeth.

Hello Aaron,

My ancestors also came from Henry Co. KY, but most of them moved to Indiana and from there to Missouri and Oklahoma. Who were your ancestors? The KEPHARTs that I have in my database who were in Winterset, IA at one time or another are Alvin Martin, b. 1905; Anderson Franklin, b. 1904; Eliza Jane, b. 1859; Mabel Ann, b. 1902; Mary, b. 1850; Sadie Viola, b. 1911; Sara Ann, b. 1861; Thomas Jefferson, b. 1829; Thomas Jefferson, Jr., b. 1875. These people are all descendants of Samuel & Jemima (SWIFT) KEPHART who were my 3rd great grandparents.

the name Swift stands out as a name I remember, I currently dont have a copy of my family Tree as it is back home and I'm in the Army. My Great-Grandfather was Thomas Kephart. My grandfather was Floyd Kephart, the only brother of his I remember was named Clarence. Do you know if Samuel KEPHART was the one who moved from kentuck to Iowa? If its the guy I think wasn''t Jemima (SWIFT) his second wife?

Hello Aaron,

I believe I have your grandfather and his brother in my database. Was your grandfather Floyd Alvin, married to Lavon, and did he die in 1987?

The only Samuel KEPHART that I could find who lived in Iowa in 1870, was born in Indiana. He was Samuel Clarence and was married to Jennie GROSECLOSE. His parents were Thomas Jefferson & Rebecca Ann (ROGERS) KEPHART and he was a half brother to your great great grandfather also named Thomas Jefferson.

My Samuel (also your ancestor) was married only once and never lived in Iowa. He and Jemima were divorced, but they both lived with one of their daughters when the 1880 census was taken in Johnson Co., IN and died within 4 months of each other in 1885.

Where are you stationed? How long before you'll be going home on leave? Perhaps you can send more information then and I'll send you what I have on KEPHARTS.

Yes, Lavon and Floyd are my grandparents. I think 1987 was the year my grandpa died, I'm not too sure as I was pretty young at the time. They had three children. My father Thomas Wayne Kephart born October 25, 1945. He had two sisters Beth and Pamela, I'm not too sure when they were born. Tom had two daughters with his first wife Vivian. Valerie and Terri. He had two more with his second wife Suzanne Martin. My sister Amy Marie Kephart born July 23, 1981. And myself, Aaron Thomas Kephart, born June 21, 1983.

I'm stationed in Forth Bragg, NC.I plan on going home to Kansascity for leave in June. But now that I'm getting into researching my family history again I will probably be sending away for a copy of the family tree.As far as I can remember the family tree that I have access to covers the direct male line from the first to reach America to Thomas Jefferson Kephart, and His brother Clarence. From there it brances off including most of the family from that point.

To give you a little background as to why I picked up my research agian. I was bored one day messing around on the net. I decided to do a search for my first and last name and came across a post I had made almost four years ago while looking into the family.

Hello Aaron,

Thanks for the latest info. I have a lot of information on KEPHARTs and I would like to send you some of it. Should I send it to you now at your hotmail e-mail address or do you want to wait until you get your family tree from home? You can send me an e-mail when you're ready for it. I'm glad to meet another cousin. I've been researching my family history for many years and you are only the second person that I've come across who is doing research that is descended from Samuel & Jemima (SWIFT) KEPHART.

Hi Tina,

About two years ago, a KEPHART researcher by the name of Toni Norman sent me some info. and she does have an Alexander listed who was born about 1852 in Blair County PA. There is no spouse or kids indicated for Alexander, but Toni has a KEPHART website and she may have more current information. Her site address is http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~normante/

Hope this helps you out.

Alexander was born to Christian b. 5-9-1821 d. 1882 and Kate (Catherine Gibson) Kephart b. 1821 d. after 1899. If you go to familysearch.com and type in Alexander or Christian Kephart, their file will pop up. I am trying to find marriage records (about 1845) or an obit for Catherine/Kate, she is the sister of my great grandfather. I'm hoping her marriage records or obit may give me her parents names. Alex had a bro William, b. 1846, and a sister Catherine b. 1848, all born in Blair Co. Hope this helps!
