Looking for descendents of Old Chief Keokuk b about 1788. Had several wives but looking for one daughter in particular named Keyowna (spelling?) who had son Jesse Walker born perhaps Morgan County, IN or IL about 1835. Jesse moved to Lee Co., IA and Clark Co., MO thereafter. Died young in Civil War. Married Susannah White (born about 1831) late 1850's daughter of Samuel White and Sarah Fike White. Children vary but William Henry Walker and Harriet Lavina Walker Sweeny / Sweeney / Swaney for sure. All info and leads appreciated. Thank you

I have heard that Keokuk had additional wives and possible children but have not seen actual documentation...I have information on his wife No-Kaw-Quale, who was the mother of his son Moses and daughter Mary Caroline. Mary Caroline married into my ancestral line, Perrigo. I too, am seeking information and would like to exchange...email me please.

I'm researching for a friend and am curious about the information you have on Chief Keokuk's wife No-Kaw-Quale, who you state was the mother of Mary Caroline. My friend descends from Mary Caroline's daughter Jane.

My friend has not been able to find any proof that Mary Caroline's father was Chief Keokuk... just family stories. Do you have any documentation/papers that prove that Chief Keokuk was Mary Caroline's father? What do you have regarding the mother. I greatly appreciate any light you can shed. Thanks.

Kindest regards, Mary

Hello, I hope you dont mind me responding to your query, but my family is related to Keokuk via a GGG Grandmother?? who was his daughter or so we hve been told. The problem we have is trying to find out how we ended up in the UK. I have a picture of Keokuk (The Watchful Fox) in his younger days and although identical to me does not answer the questions needed.

Any ideas where I can go to try and get some information??

Many Thanks

It's been awhile since I've been researching. Sure would like to see that picture! Do you have a name of your G-G-Grandmother? When did your family end up in England? Keokuk had many wives. Did you know their will be a Pow-Wow in keokuk, Iowa July 9th weekend? I am told that people from the tribe have recently started going to this (if I recall correctly). I can put you in touch with one of the people coordinating. Let me know how much you know. I have LOTS of stuff, just havn't been ablt to match it directly in my family.

P.S. Are those your queries regarding Spencer and Clarke? We might have some ties from Clark County, Missouri (across the border from SE Iowa). Ther were Spencer's there (including some historical info on a Spencer murder where some of my family was somewhat involved in!
