My g-g-g grandmother was a Catherine Keohane, b. Sept 1813 at Ballinvrokig, Butlerstown....married a John Wholly, b. 182 at Carrigeen, Butlerstown.

The Whollys are impossible to find...were they turfed out of Butlerstown??? but there's loads of Keohanes I've managed to connect. Anyone with a connection?

Also trying to connect with the Arctic Explorer Patrick Keohane from over the road at Barry's Head. Any help appreciated.

I do not know if you have had any other replies but Nora Keohane Hickey of Kinsale is an authority on the Keohanes of your area. There are also some Keohanes of Ballinvrokig out in western North Dakota. My Keohanes are from further west in Caheragh and are related to some of the Whooleys of Lissaclarig of Kilcoe/Aghadown.

My father had some communication with her years ago, I don't think it was too positive. Is this where you heard of the Keohanes in western North Dakota? Would you know any placenames there of relevance? I could start looking there :)

Unfortunately I have moved several time since then and a good bit of my stuff has been packed away in storage so I do not have the details handy. The family lived in Beach, North Dakota on the western border of the state and just off the interstate. I met with them and primarily with one of them who had been the State Assistant Attorney General as I was also doing some legal work for the state at that time. JK

That seems to be him. There was an article many years ago in a Minnesota paper about Brian's father and an uncle who had not seen each other for many years getting together. Unfortunately we have moved and much of our stuff is still in storage. If you do not mind could you contact me at "Paterali@aol.com"? Thank you. John K

Joanne, No more luck with your specific request but at a website irishgenealogy.ie set up by the Archives of Ireland (however for economic reasons somewhat inactive now) there is a baptism of a John Sullivan of Ballinvrokig to Denis and Johanna Sullivan (I forgot to record the date but abt 1840) with sponsors John and Cath Keohane. Also there is a Kilbrittain bapt. of a Jeremiah Holland, 20 May 1840, to a John Holland and Cath Keohane, sponsors Timothy Lehane and Nancy Halisy. JK
