Frank Allan Keogh married Winnifred Ada Allan, He had family in USA in the 60's. A lawyer in Chicago, name unknown. Mother Katherine. Family disowned upon marriage of English Winnifred. Looking for family members. From County Cork, Ireland

Strange, my Keogh was also thrown out for marrying an English person, Dwyer (this is supposition on my part, from various sources). And my sister was named Winifred! Hence my name, Keogh-Dwyer! But we were Tipperary/Cashel Keoghs.

Pat, My grandfather was Frank Alexander Keogh, born in New York but from County Cork. He married Winifred Ada Allan from England and both families disowned them. I know the family from England. But my search for the Keogh's has given me nothing. Your story sounds good. If you know anything more please let me know. Thank you, Linda

Linda, you've checked Irish Peerage and Irish families? lots of info there. I found a book "Irish Pedigrees." It's out of print, 189?, but found it has been reissued. It's by O'Hart, Library #0929.1. The last Keogh listed was an Edmond Keogh. don't know year of listing. My furthest back Keogh was Edmund Gerald Keogh (or keogh-dwyer) who married Mary Lockwood in 1891. We have Lockwoods and Cravens and Cardens in our past lines. Any of this helpful?

Pat, Thank you, I will look into that. My Aunt sent me a paper that looked into my grandfathers birth. He was born in Long Island, NY on June 21, 1891. His father was Anthony Keogh and mother, Ellen Kelly. No birth dates or death dates yet. Will continue my search. Thank you so much. Linda

Re: Keogh's from County Cork
Hi Hayley
I am also trying to trace my Keogh connections from Co Cork.
My grandmother was Bridget Keogh. She was born in 1894 in Fermoy Co Cork. She married William Mitchell ( an English soldier ) and moved to England around the time of the first World war.
My Grandmother's father was Michael Keogh. He was married to Mary Wynne, but that is all I have managed to find so far. As I dont live in Ireland I am finding tracing this side of my family tree very difficult.
Do you think there may be a connection ?

Re: Keogh's from County Cork
i think there may well be a connection as both th names mary and michael are in the genetic line which is my father in law and his sister. his fathers name was laurence/lawrence keogh and lived under the bow bells in london what we call a proper cockney. it is hard to find out much as my father in law was adopted out in his earlier years along with his sister and only really new his real father when he had children of hs own i know he has a sister called patricia who still live in london and his father is burried at panceras cemetary in london but under the surname woods which has never been explained to my father in law. if you can help in any way it would be greatley appriciated.
