Just to let everyone though I am a Keogan. It is a very uncommon irish surname. I am from Co. Meath just north of Dublin. There would only be about 30 Keogans around here as i said it is very uncommon. my grandfather's name was John "Jack" Keogan if this helps.

HI! This is great! My mother's name was Dorothy Keogan, born1917, died 1968. She claimed to have relatives from Cork, Meath and Galway, So maybe we are related! I have had a very hard time finding any relatives. My mother had two brothers, Lawrence Keogan, born1899, died 1963; Lloyd Keogan, born 1906,died1969. They each had children, Lawrence: Pat Keogan ,born1926, died 1993, and Joan ? Lloyd: Tim Keogan born 1934, died 1972, Kathleen Keogan, Sharon Keogan and the last one I can,t remember. We lost touch back in the 60's. I have six siblings, William Cannon born 1937, Patrick 1939,Michael 1941, Joseph 1946, myself, Colleen 1950, James 1951, Penny 1961. I remember my mother speaking of an uncle, or cousin ,Thomas Keogan, being the head softball coach at Notre Dame University in Indiana, and a cousin, Veronica Keogan, a dancer in NYC. That is as much as I can recall at this time. Would hearing from you. Until then, Colleen

Don't know if you will receive this. Your message was posted a long time ago. I just read it. I am the Veronica Keogan the dancer from New York City. I danced with the Metropolitan Opera Company when they were on 39th Street. Had a wonderful time.
My grandfather, Matthew Keogan, came from Virginia, County Cavan. There were many Keogan's from Co. Cavan. He was one of 11 children, but was the only one to come over and stay here. Lived in Jersey City then Newark (owned a tavern on Mulberry Street) then settled in North Arlington. His brother Charles came over, but did not like it here. I guess he liked the farm life. The linen industry flouished there.
Dorothy Keogan might fit in the family somewhere, but I do not have any documentation for her. Was she the Keogan or did she marry one? Could be a cousin or such.

hi, I too am a Keogan , currently trying to trace my family roots. I have always been under the assumption that Keogan was an irish name and I do know that my grandfathers family came from ireland. My great grandfathers name was Bernard Keogan and I am trying to trace his father and mother. I have been told that his mother or possibly his grandmother was Spanish - her name was Susanaha (a name that has been passed through the family).
