A daughter, Mary Elizabeth, was born to them in 1912. They divorced when she was a young child. He later married Marie Murphy McDonnell, a widow with three children[Craig, Marjory and Marie]. She was the daughter of John E. Murphy, a builder of hotels. The couple lived in Bronxille in the winter, in Maine in the summer. He was president of the Consumers' Gas Co. and Ohio Edison.
