My interest in Kennah is from William Kennah b.1813, Arbory. (census 1881). He's a gr gr gr grandfather of mine.

Here in the Isle of Man my research around the Kennah name points to Kenna and Kennah being 2 distinct family names. Often frustrated at being able to make any progress I found a link first of all to the name Kennah also being spelt as Keanah then also as Keaney.

I came across your Kennah, who died on an Alaskan ice fissure somewhere else before. That person had found a number of siblings, but IMO not the full list. Unfortunately due to recent hard drive failure I lost some of my research, but a quick look on the IGI gets the following:

When I was at Salt Lake City doing research at the Family History Library, the authorities there said that anyone who considered himself Irish would not state that they were from the Isle of Man. So I haven't pursued the Isle of Man connection at all. In addition, a passport application by John Kennah's son William indicates that his father came from Offaly, Ireland. So I will try the other spelling of the name as you suggest because maye the h was added to the end to make the pronunciation easier.

I'm presuming my Kennah's must have arrived in IoM from Ireland within a generation or two of where I've got to. The name is quite rare and distinct enough from Manx names such as Kennaugh.

Edward Kennah was my gr.great grandfather. I have since found a newspaper article about his death in Alaska, it was July 3, 1896.

Do you happen to have any info on the spouse of Robert Kenna (b 1814)? I found record on LDS of a marriage between Robert Kenna and Jane Taggart in Arbory 19 June 1851. I am trying to find out if Jane is the eldest sister of James Taggart of Mooaney Mooar (my g g grandfather)

His age chops and changes a bit in the census, 1841 he's 20, 1851 he's 32, 1861 he's 40. No sign of him in online census indexes after that, but doesn't appear to have died until:
KENNAH, Robert 78 Arb 2 Nov 1897

But you're more interested in Jane .... sorry :)

Looking at submitted records on the IGI it seems as though Jane is the elder sibling of a James Taggart, children of William Taggart and Ann Curphey. This lists the youngest sibling as being born in 1844, which may discount the Mooaney Mooar connection as, there's a will of Wm Taggart of Moneymoar at http://www.iomfhs.im/lawsons/twill/1839_009.html that mentions a daughter Jane. There are though a fair few William Taggart's about at that time :) There's a regular connection to Ballagilbert through the Taggart family as there is with my Kennah and beyond connections.

Only way to be sure is to see the actual marriage and christening entries for Jane. Unfortunately I'm no expert on this stuff, good places to ask questions/check info are:
