My brother's patrilineal (male) line goes back to Adam Kembel b.13 Oct 1810 in Northumberland Co. PA. Adam was one of several Kemble/Kembel family founders from families of those names who apparently were in Northumberland in or before 1800. We don't know if those families are related, or who their immigrant ancestor(s) are. My brother's recent Y chromosome DNA test (25 markers) identifies him as from the clan known as R1b13, which spread through Europe from Iberia after the Ice Age. This test is also useful for identifying relatives with a common male near ancestor. Any Kemble/Kembel males who want this information on the paternal line of their ancestry please join the "Kimble" Project of Family Tree DNA. You must be a male to be tested for the Y chromosome. Remember what you are seeking is the direct father to his father to his father (etc) line of your family. See
www.Brian-Hamman.com/Kimble YDNAprojectResults.htm Or go to Family Tree DNA.com, click "Projects" and click on the K surname to see the list of K surname projects. Kimble, Kemble, Kembel and other variants of the name can join. There is plenty of information at those sites. The basic Y test costs about $129.00. Who knows, maybe we're cousins!
