Look for "ty@warwick.com", who does not have an address there anymore. We are working on the same family. I must meet him; we both have a great deal of information to share. He seems to be one generation further back than me, but I have missing dates and places to information he place on this site, plus additional branches.

My records have some 1,200 names of Kembles and Kimbles who were originally Kemble and a few Kimballs [Parsippany, NJ area only] and their 300 - 400 colleratal surnames.

My Kemble came from England. Two published books say from Devonshire, however Devonshire is County Devon on the southern coast of the United Kingdom. County Devon has two major seaports both today and in colonial times, which are Plymouth and Torbay. I believe the Devonshire reference is referring to the place of embarkment and not residence. I believe my ancesors came from the north such as County Wilts (Wiltshire) or Gloucester County or nearby surrounding area.

I believe they either landed in New York City or Philadelphia, then settled in northern New Jersey. Possible arrival time in America would be between 1760 -1780.

The only story I have about the three brothers came to America from Devonshire. The author is interested in only one of these brothers, so no more is known about them other than one settles in the west (west of what and this was colonial America before the war). The one brother is married and has five sons. One sons died on the voyage. Three sons do service in the Revolutionary War on the side of the Americans (2nd Sussex County Militia -- I believe). One is killed. Another is either killed or comes home and dies "shortly thereafter" (define? 2 weeks, or 2 months, or 2 years?). This was written a hundred years after the events. The third son who survived; moved to Virginia and never returned to New Jersey. I have learned what his name was John Kemble and he was supoosed to have settled in either Madison or Gladstone, Virginia.

The fourth son, "remained on the home proper" and became a physcian. His name is William Kemble and the first Kemble to be named in both the books that contain information about my early family.

After 32 years of research, I have not learned any more about the early than I knew after the first five years, but that was before the internet.

I who someone reads all this and can help me and I will help anyone I can.

Sincerely yours,
James A. Crowley Kemble

I have a Peter Kemble, but no dates or wife or children/ It is a possible name for one of five brothers who left England between 1750 to 1775 (YEAR RANGE ASSUMED FROM INFO). Of the parents and the five sons. I have only confirmation that John and William are two of the namess.

In colonial New Jersey, there were three Kemble families. Mine in northern New Jersey in northern Morris County area. In central Morris County was a loyalist family, who British Col. Stephen Kemble, was a part thereof. His Kemble I have informtion going back to early 1500's. My family may be an offchut of his family in England. Finally, in the south end of the state, there is a very large Kemble family that arrived in early 1600's amd grow large here.

Do you know where (other than NJ) he resided or was born? Where he might have married? His military unit in the American Revolutionary War? Any possble references to his brothers, parents, or boyhood hometown in England or port of embarkment?

I believe Peter died and is buried with a brother, John. Is this correct? If yes, do you have any info on John?

I have learned to get any and all info that I can get in case it become relevent later. Could you sent me a copy of your info?

I have Broderbund Family Tree Maker (beleive it is Version 8) or perhaps you could print out a copy. Before sending it, contact me at jersey_jim_the_jerseyan@yahoo.com.

I have over two hundred pages of information regarding your William Kemble Sr and wife Mary from Devonshire &/or Wiltshire England. Starting from William & Mary to almost present day. My grandmother (Lillie J. Vanderhoff) on my dad's side comes from this family. I am trying to gather information on my grandfather's side, Edwin G. Kimble. His father is James Kimble and two of his children married into the Kemble family from Wiltshire. I am not sure if James is a descendent of William Kemble's grandchildren, Daniel or George Kemble.

My husband is from England, and I do have a few connections there that might be able to help me sort out William and Mary Kemble, whether they are from Devonshire or Wiltshire.

If you have any information regarding James Kimble, I would appreciate it. Likewise, if I have anything you might be able to use, please let me know.

Mr. Kemble, I understand you have a copy of Kemble Stout's book.

Do you know where I might be able to get a copy? I'm sure Mr. Stout is gone by now if he was old back in the 1980's.

Thank you,

Lori

I am trying to find the parents of David Kembel who was married to Lydia Wert and they both were born in Northumberland County, PA. I was told their families were originally from Holland but from other sources I have found that Lydia's family probably came from Germany. Does anyone have any information on David Kembel who was born in Northumberland County around 1815.

If you would like to give me some names in a branch what you are researching, I will try to see what I have or if you are in my family tree.

Look forward to hear back from you,

Thank you for the offer. I found an address and phone number for Mr. Stout on the internet, I gave him a call and he has some copies of his book. I sent him a check for $65 and he said he would send me one. I am certainly looking forward to it as I know my grandmother's father is in the book.

I told Mr. Stout I would try to get some information on the Kembles before William and Mary as I have friends and relatives in England that might be able to help me and we go to England every couple of years.
