Surnames: Kemberling>Border
This was my brothers grandfather whom we hadn't seen since my mother fled PA. from an abusive relationship with his son Jule Kemberling in 1979 I think. My brother was just a baby and I was in pre-school. I remember them though and his wife was really sweet. I am excited to be able to share this info with him. I never knew they lived in Altoona because we lived in a place called tipton or tifton and it seemed like they lived close by?? My Brother is Bradley Crimpson Kemberling born to Jule Kemberling and Bonnie Border May 4,1978. I know he had older 1/2 siblings from Jule-one was a daughter named Julie I think. If anyone out there remembers us-I'm sure my Brother would love to know about where he comes from. He is married now and has 4 sons of his own...

Then you can let your brother know that he and I are third cousins!

I never knew Crimpson or his side of the family, but his father, Samuel Charles, and my grandmother's father, Robert Weldon, were brothers. I, too, grew up near Tipton, about 10 minutes north of Altoona, though I now live a little less than an hour west of there in St. Benedict, Cambria county. I am just about a month older than your brother, being born on April 9, 1978.

My grandmother mentioned Samuel and Crimpson many times, but I never met either of them. I do have much info on the Kemberlings, all the way back to your brother's and my 5x great grandfather, Ludwig, whom I have traced back to the 1770's in the Berks/Schuykill counties area of PA. I do have some old family photos, though I'm not sure of who everyone is in them. Some were from my grandmother's collection, that my mother now has, some were from another cousin I have spoken to online that lives in northwestern PA, and some from my great-aunt who still lives in Altoona.

I am willing to share any into I have and that you or your brother may be interested in.

WOW! That is so cool-have you uploaded any photos to your famiy tree yet? I will tell him as soon as I talk to him-I have yet to tell him all the info I have found. seems like the Kemberlings(apart from his dad and one aunt who lived in Miami,FL) did not veer far from PA. were they original settlers then? It has been very exciting to learn about all this stuff! Thank you!

I do have some old family photos, but I don't have them all in my family tree. For some reason, my Family Tree Maker wants to keep randomly deleting photos.

As to where the Kemberlings originally settled, I'm not positive. All I know for certain is that Ludwig appears in tax records in Pine Grove Township, Berks County, PA in 1772. There was also a listing for one of his daughter's baptisms at the Zion Red Church in Brunswick Township, Berks County in 1771. Before this, I can find no listings for him anywhere.

There was someone that said he had come from Germany on a ship in 1751 at age 4, but I looked in a book of old ship's manifests, and found that ship and listing for whom they showed as his family, and he was not listed at all. They also had some others listed as siblings of his in that family that also were not listed, so I think someone may have over associated a few Kemberling families in eastern PA from that time.

Just let me know what you would like and I will gladly share what I have.

Chad
