I have been reading recent messages.
The Madison Kem, son of Joseph and Mary,
was the brother of a John Kem who married
Ann Russell 1836 Wayne Co., IN. John is my
gr-gr-gr-gr grandfather. I have visited many
of the gravesites for the Kems that are
buried in Indiana. Most are in Marion, IN or
Richmond, IN. Anyone with these connections
write back. I think we have a lot to share.

My line of Kems originated in Virginia, moved to Tennessee, and then to Kentucky and later Missouri. I think George Kem, born about 1754, was the father of at least three sons. One, William Kem, went to Tennessee about 1814; the other two (Joseph Thomas) moved to Indiana in the 1830's. There may also have been a George, Jr. Would like to share information on the Virginia-Tennessee-Kentucky-Missouri Kems and gain information on the Indiana ones.

John is my ancestor and I have a fairly full tree from him to me.
John and Ann Russell had 8 children.
When the Kems first moved to Indiana they settled around what is now
Richmond in Wayne, Co. Eventually John came to Marion in Grant Co.
I can send you a file that contains John and Ann's descendents if you like.
It sounds like you may have information on Joseph and some of the family in
Virginia. I have a history of Grant Co., IN that states John Kem left Virginia in 1829.
They moved from Richmond to Grant Co. in 1853.
I am looking forward to see what else you have. I am kind of new
to this message board. How do we exchange files?

To Jeff: My ancestor, William Kem, born between 1784 and 1794, left Virginia shortly after the 1810 census. Maybe he and John were brothers?? You can write me at kem@wfu.edu.

I'm interested in any information about the Kems of Seattle, Washington. My father, Jack, once told me that his father, Bertram, was from Indiana, although I don't know if that information is correct. My grandmother's name was Alma Holman. I'd appreciate any response that might help me trace my antecedents.
