Thank you for your reply Shirley. The time frame of your dates is a bit too late for my research, unfortunately. My ancestor Willliam Kelly was born in 1808 near Brookeborough, and left Ireland with the 27th Regt in 1835 never to return. It is very difficult to trace his parents and siblings, but one of his sons was named Edward so I wondered if there was a connection.
