I'm looking for the parents of JOHN W. KELLEY, b: 20 June 1848, Burlington, Chittenden, Vermont.

I believe his parents were Michael and Catherine (LNU) Kelley, both from Ireland, all living in Burlington, Vermont in the US 1850 census. However, this is only speculation. John's military papers state both parents from Ireland, and all censuses state the same.

After enlisting in the Civil War in Boston, 1863, and serving on the US Navy steamer "Flag," he was discharged in 1865, Philadelphia, PA. where he married JULIA A. RUSSELL, Meadville, PA. They then moved to Indiana, residing there until their deaths, John in 1917, Julia in 1900.

Known children of John and Julia are: James (divorced), Frank (m. Stella Spencer), Mary (m. George Doyle), Jessi (m. Edward Kenny), Nora (m. Albert Mitchell), Matthew (single), Emma (m. Ernest Seiver).
