Many family historians before me had tried to search for Charles Kelber in the past and have been unsuccessful. I became interested in family history within the last year and have been hunting him down ever since. I'm hoping you might be able to help me.
Here is the info I know:
Charles Kelber
b. Oct 28, 1899
d. Aug 16, 1967
Married Barbara Adeline Kammerer Apr 30, 1923
My Great Aunt thinks Charles was born in Pennsylvania, USA but the Census Records and his WWI Draft Registration Card indicate he immigrated from Germany/Austria-Hungary. I think his mother's name was Katherine (Kathryn?) Kotchick, but I know her husband must have passed early on because all of her records say Katherine Kenst. My mother knew her as "Grandma Kenst" as well.
I'm really trying to verify his place of birth and learn about his parents so I can continue the line. Thank you in advance for any help you can give!
UPDATE 10/25/2013: I finally found him listed on a passenger list. In 1905, ship name "Patricia". It was incorrectly indexed so I have sent in an update. He travelled with his uncle, Karl Kotschick, though I'm unable to find naturalization paperwork for either of them (I assumed Charles naturalized under his step dad) and the passenger list doesn't seem to have an additional page indicating place of birth. It does list the last permanent residence as Szaszujfalu, Hungary.
