In reply to Reed Brown's message with regard to Noah and Susan Kelbaugh: Noah Kelbaugh and Susan Rittenour are my great grandparents. I sent for the death certificates of Noah and Susan Kelbaugh. I am descended through Noah and Susan's son, John Franklin Kelbaugh who married
Sarah Louetta Leonard in Oella, Maryland on 9 Dec., 1897. John Franklin Kelbaugh was born Oct. 22, 1868 in Maryland.
Noah and Susan are in the 1880 census of West Virginia (Hedgesville, Berkeley, West Virginia-- P. 283D) with their Children: John Kelbaugh (My grandfa.), Daniel Kelbaugh,
Adelaide Kelbaugh, Florence Kelbaugh, and Mary Kelbaugh. My grandfather, John, was the only child (according to the census) that was born in Maryland. Daniel born: WV; Adelaide: born in OH; Florence in VA; Mary: in WV Mary was 2 Months old in 1880. Living near Noah and Susan were Daniel Rittenour, age 65 born WV, Shingle Maker. His Fa. and Mo. both born in VA. Daniel's Wife, Lucinda Rittenour age 65, Born: VA --Both parents born: VA. Also in Daniel's household is Martha, Daughter, age 17--born Va and Sarah Rittenour - granddau. I have found Henry and Juliann in the 1850 census with Noah and his siblings (I assume) in Carroll County, MD. I am very interested in any information on Henry Kelblaugh and Juliann Lovell. I am very interested to know the family background on both the Kelbaugh and Lovell family. (By the way, in all family information and research I have done there is no American Indian connection with Susan Rittenour or Noah Kelbaugh. It is my understanding that Noah was married before he married Susan--and may have had other children. There may be descendants of this first marriage and perhaps that wife MAY have had some American Indian--but Noah nor Susan were in any way full-blooded. Kelbaugh is German (changed from the original spelling) and Rittenour is Swiss-German. Sometime stories do get confused. I am very interested in any information on Henry Kelbaugh and Juliann Lovell. Thanks, in advance, for any information.
