Pili-Kekoanui
Still trying to locate Pili-Kekoanui relatives. My great-great grandfather was a Pili. The family name than changed to Kekoanui. I am interested to know where the Pili name came from, is it Tahitian? Possibly New Zealand? My great-grandmother was Makanoii. My grandmother's name was Kalani (Esther) Kekoanui. My mom's name was Harriet Leilani Patterson. Any info. greatly appreciated.

'Ey! Just realized this board probably does not allow you to see the e-mail. In fact, you had a posting in 2000 that I replied to in 2002. Maybe now, we'll finally get connected. Call dad, Henry at (817) 354-0382 [it will say a different phone number on the answering machine because they haven't figured out how to change it] and you can exchange e-mails since posting an address online might lead to TONS of junk mail. He used to know Aunt Esther--in fact, dad created the Voices of Hawaii newspaper that Aunt Esther ran after he left CA.

Thank you for your reply. I will call your dad in the next few days. We are in contact with Auntie Esther's son, Baldo, and his family. I didn't know about the newspaper, how interesting! Finally we have made a connection. The third weekend in July we are planning a Kekoanui reunion here in Oregon this time. Baldo and some of his family are planning to come. It would be fun to meet you and your family. My youngest daughter graduated from the University of Hawaii, and is living in Honolulu now. Again, thank you!
