I really don't think we are related, the names mentioned I never heard. My grandmother was born Ida Mae Keich and married William N West, they originally lived in Summit Hill til the 50's and moved to Hometown where my grandfather built a home, in which my parents now reside. Ida had my moter Althea, then married married Wm West and went onto to have two more children Ruth Ann living in Mass. and Robert now deceased. My grandmother had a brother William also now deceased who had a daughter with Jean, daughter named Diane. My Great Grandmother was Anna Keich, I was young when she died all I remember is funeral home Zizzelman's. Roots trace back to founders of Tamaqua, The Whetstones. It's nice talking to you to see how far roots go back. If any further information please email me Noffie224@aol.com

Sincerely, Carol Hammer

Dear Carol,
The Town of Tamaqua,PA is loaded with Keichs. If you do a national search, you will find that Tamaqua has the most. Zizzleman's funeral parlor, in Tamaqua was once named Bischoff's. Seems that his daughter took up the funeral business and then married a Zizzleman. I was actually contacted by the decendent, son,who is now in the funeral business in Tamaqua. Bicshoff was the funeral director for my great grandmother Mary Elizabeth Keich. If you can get your hands on the 1900 census for schulykill county,Tamaqua borough;you will find the names I mentioned in my last e-mail,on sheet # 13. Ernest Keich married my great-grandmother in 1901. It was the second marriage for both of them as they both had been widowed;according to their marriage license;which I have a copy of. So Earnest may have had children with his first wife. Who knows who raised them. I do not know her name. According to the census of 1900, he had a brother named William, born March 1881. Many Keich's are buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Tamaqua.Where do you live now?
Hope this has been more help.

I was born in Phila., Pa in 1955, I still reside outside of the Phila., PA area. My parents retired in 1986 and moved back to Tamaqua.PA,(live in Hometown,PA that my Grandfather, Wm West built in the 40's) my mothers roots. She originally was raised in Summit Hill, PA, she now is 78. So much to learn about your heritage and so far has been so interesting. I have received mail from a woman in Arizona, can't remember her name. My grandparents and their parents all had service w/Zizzelman's funeral home. I actualy have a neice lioving on Hazle ST. I can rememeber being a child and the woman playing the piano in the funeral home. I am enjoying all the information I have received to this point. Please stay in contact.

My Grandmother was Dorothy Elizabeth Keich of Tamaqua. She was married to William Jonas Moyer and she died around 1949 in Tamaqua. My father Kenneth William Moyer was only 6 at the time. Does any of this ring a bell? I am quite stuck on my Keich line.

Kevin Moyer
