Re: Keich Family-Tamaqua{George 1840 and Stella{Children-Caroly, Katie,Lizzie, Julianna, George, Conrad, Millie}
Hi, My Conrad Keich was married to Bertha{Kappler}. He was born in 1875 and died May 23, 1899. There are many Keichs in Tamaqua so makes it hard to follow back to the older Keichs.I am planning to go to Tamaqua this summer. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it.

Hi, what exactly are you going to do in Tamaqua? I went through the cemetery 2 weeks ago and the older tombstones are hard to read. I didn't find many Keichs. The church records are online now via the Ancestry.com website. You can view them for free via the Ancestry.comlibrary edition. I can help you out with there the Keich's were probably from. My Bahrt ancestors were from the village of Sus (Sub/ Suess) in Thurignia Germany (don't know if I spelled it right). Luckily my last name is not common and I found my distant relatives about 10 years ago. I visited twice since then. The name Kuech is there (for some reason the ones in Tamaqua have if spelled differently). Other Sus people in Tamaqua are Kellner, Heidenreich, Weber to name a few. Some settled in Stockton (new Hazleton). My Bahrt ancestor in Tamaqua had a brother in Stockton. My Weber/Kuech side started in Tamaqua and moved to Stockton later on. I've just started on the Kuech side, since it is a relation by marriage. The library does have newspaper on Microfilm for the local paper, so there may be a obituary, but for 1899 that is slim, but you never know.
