LEXINGTON: Robert E. Kehl, Sr. passed Saturday evening, May 30, 2015 in Ohio Health MedCentral Mansfield Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 85.

He was born July 3, 1929 in Hemlock, Ohio to parents John Frederick & Eva (Williams) Kehl. After he was graduated from Shawnee High School, Shawnee, Ohio, Bob proudly served in the US Army.
At the Coliseum Skating Rink in Mansfield, Ohio, a beautiful young lady named Bonnie Jean Bringman caught his eye and it must have been love, because Bob gave her the star and cowboy boot from his Cracker Jack box. The pair soon married on November 21, 1949, and together raised four children.
Although he was briefly a Lexington police officer, Bob will be remembered for his work as a finishing carpenter.
He built most of Mansfield General, the Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio airports, and lots of structures and houses around the Mansfield, Ohio area.
He worked more than 20 years for J&B Acoustical.
Following Bob's retirement, he enjoyed driving cars for Spitzer Auto Group and working sporting events for Lexington High School.

Bob loved all sports, but cheered especially hard for the Indians, the Browns, the Cavaliers, the Buckeyes, and the Lexington Minutemen.
In younger years, he rode a motorcycle and liked to water ski from his boat in Pleasant Hill.
He was a very talented woodworker, and made everything from little carvings to strong furniture which he gave as presents to family and friends.
His last big project was a 12 foot tall replica of the old Mansfield blockhouse used in all the area parades for the bicentennial celebration and it won multiple awards.

His family and friends will miss his easy going nature, antics, and orneriness.

Bob was a member of Church of Christ in Lexington, the American Legion Post #535 of Bellville, Ohio and VFW Post #5101 of Lexington.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Bonnie Kehl of Lexington, OH; three children (& spouses): Diane & Steve Arnold of Mansfield, Suzanne & Jim Irving of Ashland, Ohio and Ronald Dean Kehl of Mansfield; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister Patricia Stickdorn of Corning, Ohio; a brother Danny Lee Kehl of Woodsfield, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son Robert Kehl, Jr., a son-in-law Jack Reeves, and eleven siblings.
The Kehl family will receive friends 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015 in Snyder Funeral Home, 2553 Lexington Avenue in Mansfield.
Contributions in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or any local charity.
