I saw a submission of yours on the KEHL message board (from a while back) and didn't know if you were still at the same email address. This seemed to be the newest submission you made, so am writing you here.

Do you know of an Othmar Kehl? He came to America about 1882 with probably a sister--Kath. (sic), both from Hessen. He was 19 years old and she 17 (that's why I think they were brother and sister). Othmar was in San Francisco, California, for awhile, married Katherine Utschig about 1903, and they lived both in San Francisco and in Sunnyvale, California. He died in San Jose, California 26 Nov 1927. His obituary listed a brother Edward Kehl, but no sister.

If you know anything of this family, I would appreciate your contacting me.

Thank you,
Mary Utschig Read

Is your grandfather still alive? What is his name? The censuses are online through 1940, so you can get information about him and his family from the census records. They are free to search at rootsweb.com. If you would like me to search the census for you, I'd be happy to, I just need some information to do so. (I do this as a hobby--no charge.) I'm not sure if Othmar and Katharine's son Joseph married and had children. You might be related to his brother Edward. Let me know if I can help you further, but I would need the name of your grandfather and any vital dates you might have for him--like birth date, death date, wife's name. If you search rootsweb.com, you can also look up the SSDI (Social Security Death Index) and that will tell you his birth date and state he got his social security number from. Mary
