Kegel in Detroit, Michigan
I am looking for relatives of Julis F. Kegel, who was born in 1837 in Bornstein ?, Prussia. He fought for the 4th Michigan Calvary in the Civil War. He first married a Theresa Kaulfersch and had a child named Paul Charles. She died and then he married a Christina Pfeiffle. They then had seven children, of which only two had familes of their own. My line is William F. Kegel and then Otto Kegel. William F. Kegel remained in Detroit, while Otto moved to Seattle/Tacoma Washington and had two daughters,Barbara and Gretchen. I have no information on what happened to Paul Charles. Any connections?

Re: Kegel in Detroit, Michigan
I am looking for information on Franz Kegel my Great Grandfather. Otto Kegel paid for his brother Franz to travel from Clabe,Germany to Detroit, Michigan in 1923.

Re: Kegel in Detroit, Michigan
If you have any information on this person and his ancestors, please let me know. In 1923, Otto would have likely been living in the Washington state area. All of his brothers and sisters were born in the USA. I do know there was also a Kegel family that lived in California at the time, that don't appear to be my relatives.

Re: Kegel in Detroit, Michigan
Franz Kegel was actually my Great Grandfather's Brother. I believe he came to the Detroit, Michigan with his 22 year old daughter Emma Kegel. Franz would have been 45 years old when he came to America from Calbe, Germany. His brother Otto Kegel from Detroit, Michigan did pay for him to come to America. I believe Franz went to Colville,Washington to visit my Great Grandfather. From there I have no information about Franz.

Re: Kegel in Detroit, Michigan
I recently made connections with the Duvernois side. There is an extensive web site on this family, which I am sure will help you. Simply Google search the name and it will come up. I can tell you that Adolph William born May 16, 1853 was at the marriage of Julius Kegel and Christine Pfeiffle in Detroit with his parents. I have several documents signed by Duvernois family members in the Civil War pension files of Julius Kegel, as they stated they were at the weddings of Julius' first wife and second wife. I have Frederick William Duvernois born in 1820 in Wuertenberg (german province) and passing away in Detroit on Oct. 5, 1890. Hope this helps.

Re: Kegel in Detroit, Michigan
I don't know how the court case turned out, sorry. I also don't have photos of that side of the family, nor any of Julius' sister who married the Duvernois gentleman.
