Looking for information on Keffer surname used in Western PA in late 19th/early20th century

Surnames: Hawk, Keffer
I am looking for information about Samuel Hawk or Samuel Keffer, who census records from 1870 indicate was born around 1858 and lived in Fayette County, PA. At some point he married Julia Adams and had several children, including William Louis, my great grandfather. My search is complicated by the surname Keffer. In 1897, Julia Adams remarried and the license indicated she divorced in Nov 1986. Newspaper records show Julia Keffer was divorced at that time. My great-grandfather, William Louis served in the Army as W. L. Hawk but in 1902 was married under the name Keffer. When he died in 1904, he was listed as W. L. Hawk. Census records show my grandmother under the surnames of Hawk and Keffer. I can't find information on Samuel's actual birth, death record or the actual divorce records. I also have no information on the interchangeably used surnames of Keffer and Hawk. Any help would be appreciated.

Look into Samuel B. Keffer, son of William Henry and Anna Keffer, in the 1860 census, Bullskin, Fayette, Pennsylvania.

I know he married a Frances "Fanny" Lint around 1900? (They are married in the 1900 census) and I know there are children from before that date. I have a child named "Willie", who is likely your William Louis, but I know nothing about him.

By 1910 Fanny is widowed.

This line is pretty elusive. William Henry was a son of Peter and Elizabeth. Peter was a son of the immigrant Georg Adam, but I know no maiden names for either of the wives.
