Hi and Happy New Year. I wish I had more information for you, but I'm at the same spot as you. Sarah was born 7 Apr. 1799 and moved with the family to Ohio sometime in the late 1820's-early 1830's. She and Job at one point might have lived with her parents Levi and Ruth Keeran. You are correct about the 1850-60 censuses. Her named was misspelled in both. No luck finding a 1870 census. Sarah died in 1874 and is buried with Job's family at Barnes Cemetery in Mary Ann Twp in Licking Co. Ohio. It's been very difficult to find any records because I haven't been able to get to the Licking Co Genelogical Society ( I live out of town) and the lack of records prior due to a 1875 courthouse fire which destroyed most of the records. The powers that be went around to Churches and various places to gather information to reconstruct what they had, but much was still lost. I hope to go back soon and see if any new info comes up. If I find something, I will post it. Good luck in your search.
I know it's a long shot, but I was wondering if you ever got more information on Sarah Keeran. I've been tracing my tree up through the Keeran line, but I can't seem to find anything about Job Keeran's paternal side of the family. Everything indicates that Sarah was his mother (especially taking into consideration the 1850 and 1860 census records), but I wondered if you've had more luck than I have in the years since this thread started. I'd appreciate any info.

I have just begun also, my ggrandfather was a Keeran. My grandmother was the oldest of 10 I believe, born and raised in Central Missouri. I remember seeing Edra's book many years ago as my Aunt was also working on our Keeran genealogy and had been in contact with Edra. My ggrandmother was Mary Virginia Sartain Keeran and my grandmother was Minnie Opal Keeran.

I am looking at John V Keeran b 1811 and married to Precious Ashton in 1840. I am trying to find out who his parents were and anything further back. I appreciate any assistance that I can get with this. Thank you.

Does anyone have any more info on the other children of Levi and Ruth(Vance) Keeran? I know some of these children moved to Ohio. I have an earlier thread regarding Job Keeran and I think he may be tied to this family. I think Sarah (1797-1874) Levi's daughter might be his Mother,Father is unknown.Or she may be an Aunt who never married. I came to these conclusions because there is a Sarah(names misspelled both times) matching the age in the 1850 and 1860 census, and a Sarah Keeran again matching the age, buried with Job and his family in Barnes Cemetary in Mary Ann Twp. Licking Co. Ohio. Any info would be appreciated.

I am trying to verify info on Ila born abt 1916 in Oklahoma. I have found on the 1920 census with her maternal grandparents John & Melvinia Settle(listed as a daughter, but on original census lists her as granddaughter with "Bula" I believe Buelah Settle as the mother. Buelah is listed as "single" on this census. There is a 1930 census in Collin County of a J.D. Keeran with a Ida Keeran as the wife which matches Bula/Buelah's birth year, but Ila is not on that census & I can't find a 1930 census for her. If anyone know Ila's father could you please respond?

Edra Keeran was my father's aunt, I think. She died in 2003 or 2003. She did a lot of research on the Keeran family and wrote a two volume book on them--trying to trace the families from the first Keerans to arrive in the US around 1720. I don't know if she sent a copy to the Library of Congress--but you could try there. She was very thorough!

The only information I have at my fingertips is in a letter dated May 28, 1951 from Edra Keeran to my husband's grandmother. She identifies herself as the great granddaughter of Benjamin, and says he was born in Illinois in 1826. In a subsequent letter, she mentions that he was married in 1846 in Warsaw, MO, then between 1870 and 1876 moved the family near to Denton, Texas.

The person you really need to get in touch with is John Callarman. His email address is JohnCallarman@msn.com. John's mother began the geneology trail many years ago, and John has the records composed into a narrative with quite a bit more detail than I can give you right now. I am in the Phillipines for the next several months, and my Keerans geneology is in the States! I will notify John that another arm is about to contact him. Happy hunting!

I have now been in contact with the executrix of Edra Keeran's estate and it appears we may obtain permission to reprint the last version of her manuscript. Higginsons Books in Boston is usually capable of working off of a bound copy so the books (two volumes) would be exact copies on the original. The more copies ordered at one time the cheaper the price (no actual extimate yet) so if there is interest it would be good to have several printed at the same tme.

I just checked the 1920 and 1930 censuses for your William. I found him in Van Buren, Ohio, in 1920, and Mayfield, Michigan in 1930.

Both censuses say that he was born in Ohio.

There are many Keeran families in Ohio. That is where John Keeran and Hannah Newbanks Keeran settled after moving from Virginia after their marriage in 1817 in Virginia.

Keeran-Callarman connection

My great-greatgrandfather, John Callarman, died in Fleming County, Kentucky, in 1818. One of his daughters, Abigail, married Joseph Keerans May 1, 1811. I have a number of current descendants of that marriage, including one active researcher in Fleming County. Of the Callarman/Callerman name, I have a document signed by the three sons of the first John Callarman. The eldest, John, spelled the name Callerman. The other two, Uriah and Daniel K., spelled it Callarman. I am interested in what might be known, Sandy Stephenson, about Blair Callerman in England.

I replied to first message found on Blair Callerman before opening "I found it," which really excites me because it leads to a Callarman-Keerans wing I have little information on. As far as I have gone is to find SS-5 for Frank Vandon Keerans, in which he stated he was son of Charles Vandon Keerans an Williet Wilson Hutchens. Those names, though, were spelled out in a different hand from Franks. This is first time I've explored this site ... can we contact directly. JohnCallarman@msn.com

The will was probated Sept. 14th, 1802 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Elizabeth had a sister named Esther, and a sister named Rebecca and brother's Phillip, Hanes, Jacob, and Thomas. Jacob may be our GGG-Grandfather.

My great great grandparents were Levi and Nancy Caroline Olds Keeran. Their daughter Eva Caroline married John McGowen Knotts in Union County, Ohio, and they were the parents of my grandfather, Charles Howell Knotts. My information shows that Eva was born in Licking County, Ohio, but her mother's family (Olds) was from New York/Vermont. Levi and Nancy moved to Union County, where Levi was the superintendent of the Union County Infirmary for quite some time. He is buried in Oakdale Cemetery in Marysville. Some information about the family is available in histories of Union county. I appreciate finding the ancestry you posted. Thank you. Is there any way I can help you?
