HELP, William & Louise or Louisa Keehn

I am desperately seeking information on William Keehn, my gr., gr., grandfather. William died in Freeport, Illinois. Some of thier children were: John, Henry, Edward, Flora, Clara, Emilee, and Alma. All of these people are dead, but should still have children or grandchildren in Illinois. (August a son to Williams first wife remained in Wisconsin.)
William died May 16, 1895 and lived for a while (joined the union army) in Michigan. He and Louise settled for a while in Richland County, Dayton Township, Wisconsin, where I believe some of William and Loius' children may have been born.

Donald Tracy Keehn, born 1924, brother to Bill, Carl, Jr. & Pauline & Emma Lou Mae, who died in 1945 or 46. I hope that you don't mind if I send your email address to your other Aunt Pauline Keehn Arndt. She is doing the genealogy on the Keehn/Casey lines. I know she would very much like to contact you. Maybe i willjust call John and see what happens--hopefully he will be receptive to my call. Do you have children? Where do you live? Lots of questions to answer. also, do you know where any of Jim's children are? The last that I knew Debbie was living in Kings Beach, Ca at Lake Tahoe but I have no idea where any of their kids are. It is a shame that the family has lost tract of so many members. About me: I live in Pollock Pines, a little village type place about 50 miles east of Sacto on Hwy 50, Bill and I moved down here from Lake Tahoe in 1988 when we both retired. My father and some of his family have lived in this area since the middle 30s. Dad's cousin had a lunber mill here back then and Dad worked as his purchasing agent. Some of the West family still live here.
Please do keep in touch.
Auntie Pauline

Sorry if I confused you..Yes my Dad is John, son of Carl and Gloradeen..I have an older sister and and older brother..my brother was named after Carl, my grandfather. I don't have any contact with Jim either. He is off in his own littler world. Darin last I heard was living in Reno..Danny lives in Sac. I don't even know who Don is so I can't help you with that one. I don't think my Dad would mind the phone call, if you would like I can let him know you are wanting to contact him..if that is more comfortable for you. That is very sweet that you were High School sweethearts. You don't hear too many of those stories anymore.

Now I am confused--your father was John son of Carl Jr. & Gloria, brother of Jim and Darin, right? Do you have any brothers or sisters? Bill & I only knew John when we moved to El Dorado Co. in 1988 and met him at the hospital in Placerville. We knew that Jim was in Oregon some where but gloria said that she could not tell us how to contact him cause Jim did not want anyone to know where he was. Bill just wanted to know that he was OK and talk to him. We lost all contact with Don's family after he died and no one knows how to find them. Auntie Pauline Arndt has spent a lot of time looking for them but to no avail. Don's other family, Linda, daughter of Don's 1st wife, has also been looking for them. Do you have any idea where they are? I looked up your dad's phone # in the book but have not called him just yet--not sure if he would want to make a connection or not. Bill & Little Pauline feel bad that they have lost sight of all of their relatives except for Linda. But Little Pauline has done a lot of work tracing the Keehn & Casey lines. We have relatives in Iowa that have visited us here and Pauline took a trip back there to meet family members. Please do keep in touch and I will let Little Pauine know that you have answered my emails.
Pauline Keehn
PS I miss Bill so much--he was a wonderful man, husband, father, friend and love of my life. We were married for 65 years and "steady boy/girl friends" for the 3 years we were in Hi School.

His orders changed at the last minute and now we are stationed here in Tennessee..Jim is divorced and living in Oregon last I heard. My Grandma would know more about him..If I go " home" for the summer I'll look you up. I know you are the only other Keehn in the phone book up there, besides my brother.

Yes, our daughter Charlene lives in Nome, Alaska with her 12 sled dogs. She is the night manager of the Native Corp. mini mart, that way she has days off to run the dogs in the winter. Char really likes it up there, gets to see the finish of the Iditroid sled race and knows a lot of the drivers who live there in Nome. She lived on the Kenai Peninsula for a number of years. But with the "gobal warming" they were not getting the snow so she moved north.
Please keep in touch. Do you know where Jim is now? We were pretty close at Tahoe and I would like to talk to him again and see how he is doing. Your other auntie Pauline lives in Elk Grove--sure she would like to meet you too. Maybe we could get together up here some time. Think about it.
Auntie Pauline Keehn
I am so excited to find you! I received quite a bit of family info from Ida Grove, IA on GGGma MIna, but would love to have more. I do have a photo that was in my dad's things. Will send you a copy of it via email. That is what led me to Ida Grove and being able to find the Keehn "clan" but never have been able to locate a Weisensee.

TAke care, thanks for response!

Yes, that's the Mary I have. According to the census in 1880 in Richland County (just a copy of a transcribed record, which could contain errors, I suppose), Mary was born in Minnesota. She was buried in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Richland County, and that says her mother was Amelia instead of Wilhelmina (not sure if I got Wilhelmina from their marriage certificate or where). I have Charles born June 7, 1849 in Pennsylvania. Do you have more on Mary's family -- siblings or parents?

Yes, I have this too. I am seeking more information on Mary Keehn Dieter, as I have little on her family. Related through their son Lewis, but Theodore was an older brother of his. Don't have much on Theodore's family -- is he your ancestor?
Sorry it took so long; I couldn't find the message board...
I have the death certificate of Charles Michael Keehn, son of Joseph Keehn of Germany. According to the death certificate, Charles' mother was Katherine Mockler of Ireland. The informant on the certificate was Lee Keehn of Hawarden IA.

There are two Catherine Keehns buried in the Calvary Cemetery in Hawarden. Catherine 1842 to 1923 and Catherine W., died 5/8/1931 aged 59. The first Catherine would be more likely to be Joseph's wife...if that is the case, then Joseph's death certificate listing the year 1903 and "widower" would be incorrect. However, Katherine's death certificate lists HER as widowed when she died at age 81 on July 13, 1923 , her husband being Joseph Keehn. Her parents are listed as Patrick and Johanna both of Ireland. On her death certificate, her maiden name is listed as Muckley (on Charles Michael's death cert. it is listed as Mockler).

According to Hazel Keehn Wasser (daughter of Henry Keehn and Minnie Patrick), Joseph died on a farm near Merrill, IA (this isn't near Ida Grove, if I'm not mistaken), and Catherine died at her son John's home in Hawarden. Hazel also mentioned that Catherine was in Chicago during the great fire and spoke of it often.

I hope this information is helpful.

Thank you for response. Since 2001 have found more info. However, looking for Peter or J. Peter Weisensee. Know great grandfather was in Civil War with Iowa Company. I know of relatives to he and wife Mina are still living. But unable to find them. Believe a relative in Curtis family lives in Dakotas? All seem to be from around area of Ida Grove, Iowa. Possible Peter and Mina were wed in NY prior to arriving in Iowa. If you do find anything I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.

Pauline
I can't help you with the location of those relatives
your seeking. Nevertheless, I am just beginning a study of "Weisensee" family genealogy. I don't have close contact with my father's side of the family so my information is limited. I have a good number of
Weisensee relatives in Iowa, South Dakota and neighboring
states. I thought I would post simply to inform you of
usual spelling of that surname in case your interested.

If I come across anything incidental to your family
in my research I'll be sure to let you know. Good luck.

New information has been found.

Gladys M. [Keehn] Schultz [b. Oct 1907] 1994 death certificate shows that her father was Joseph KEEHN, and her mother was May MOELLERKE (both born in Wisconsin).

The 1920 Federal Census says that Gladys' father was b. in the United States, mother in WI. Gladys, age 12, was then living with her Grandparents, Herman & Anna MOELLERKE in Milwaukee, WI.

Lake Co., Indiana Marriages show a Joseph KEEHN m. a May MUELLER 24 Sept 1906.

I do not know for fact, that these are the same people, but definately could be. MOELLERKE is not a surname that is common, and easily have been changed to MUELLER. And if I recall correctly, Lake Co., IN was a place where many young people went to get married, because of the ease of doing so.

I wonder if perhaps Gladys' mother may have died in childbirth, and the baby, Gladys, was left with her Grandparents. Could her Dad, Joseph KEEHN perhaps have gone on, remarried, raised another family?

Any ideas?

Sharon

Hiram & Keturah (Frye ?) Keehn PA/IN/IL/IN

Hiram W. Keehn was born Jul. 1830 in PA, and married Keturah B. (probably Keturah B. Frye) about 1864, she born July 1844 in PA. They were in IN by about 1866, in IL by 1870, then back in IN, in Indianapolis, sometime after 1875. Children were Sarah B. Keehn born 1866 IN, Edwin Keehn born about 1870 IL, Clarence Keehn born about 1873 IL, and Maria born 1875 IL. Hiram died in 1903 and Keturah died in 1926, both in Indianapolis. My question: where in PA did Hiram and Keturah come from and who were their parents?
Paul

Keehn, Joseph

My grandfather, Joseph F. Keehn was born Feb 1869 in Illinois. His father from Germany, mother from Ireland. He married Emma L Weisense or Weisensese or a spelling similar, unable to decipher. Emma was born in Illinois, Jan 1868, Father and mother, Mina Weisense (sp?) born in Germany. Mina Weisense (?) immigrated from Germany in 1856.

Emma was 1 of 3 siblings. Possible a Caspar Weisense whom I located in Walla Walla Wa Census was a brother or uncle, he was born in Bavaria, as were his parents.

Joseph F Keehn was a barber in Ida Grove County Iowa, he died in May 1903. He was in the Keehn & Lancaster Barbershop in June 1897 per an article found.

Emma eventually married a Mr. Adams. They ended up in Manteca/Lathrop/Stockton, CA area in 1920's or earlier. No Keehn's in Ida Grove 1920 Census. They owned a dairy farm which my brother, born in 1921 recalls visiting.

My father was Dewey Carl Keehn, born May 29, 1898, Ida Grove, he had two brothers, JP born June 1891, Ida Grove; R. R., born Feb 1894, Ida Grove. He also had a sister, possibly Margaret/Mildred (?) married to a man, first name Carl (can't recall last name) (Recall he was in a nursing or care home in Sonora, CA at time of his death) She had a daughter, Imogene, who had a son named Carl Roy ?.

Emma Louise Adams (She went by Louise) was living in the town of Stockton, possibly 4th street (was there in 1950's) she died in 1950's I believe. Looking for any information regarding this family. Would especially like to find Imogene or her descendants. Expect she is in her 70's at this time.

Ryan you responded to my old query regarding incorrect spelling of Weisensee. I have since found that Mina Weisensee was married to Peter John Weisensee (or John Peter) They lived in Ida Grove, Iowa. You mentioned you had family in Iowa and South Dakota. I now know there was family in South Dakota, but unsure of name, believe it was a daughter/or grandaughter.
I am their great grandaughter, their daughter Emma Louise was my grandmother (married names Keehn; Adams)

If you have further family info, please contact me.
Thanks
