I am looking for more info on my Keech/Keach family. Elias Hilton Keech, son of Henry Keech(1795-Mar 1860) and Caroline Windley(1800-?). Elias(Sept.1832 in NC-1901-Beaufort, NC)married Margaret Alease Elizabeth Robbins(1835-1896). They had nine children:Henry Thomas,Jesse Franklin,George Benjamin,Mary E,John Walter,Elias Milton,William Major, Wyriott Samuel and Sallie Ann.Henry Keech and Caroline Windley had five children that I know of: Bryan Henry,Benjamin H,Lorenzo W,Levi Sylvester and Elias Hilton. It is said that Henry Keech's parents are: Jasper Keach(1744 in Phil,PA-1833 Beaufort, NC) and a woman named Rachel. Jasper's parents are: John Keech and Rhoda. John Keech's parents are: Elias Keech(1665-27 Oct.1699 in London, England)and Mary More(could be spelled Moore). I have no clear cut information on Jasper and Rachel Keech,John and Rhoda Keech, and Elias and Mary More. Does anyone have any information they can provide? I have looked endlessly!

I have found info on Elias Keach(1665-27 Oct 1699) and Mary Moore, d/o the Honorable Nicolas Moore(Chief Justice of Pennsylvania and President of the Free Society of Traders). Elias' father is the famous Benjamin Keach(29 Feb 1640 in Buckinhamshire,England-18 Jul 1704 in Southwark, England). According to my reading, both of his parents died of the plague when he was nine- abt 1631, but do not give names. While I was reading from "Spurgeon's Sermons vol5:1859 "The Ceremony of Laying The First Stone of the New Tabernacle", Spurgeon mentions that Benjamin has a son-in-law by the name of Benjamin Stinton, which would indicate that he had a daughter also. Does anyone have any idea who Benjamin Keech's parents are, who he married and the name of the daughter? My email addy is:teresapeterson1@aol.com
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. According to "Reflections of a Puritan Theologian on Regeneration and Conversion" by:Dr.Michael A.G. Haykin(Principal of Toronto Baptist Seminary and Professor of Church History and Reformed Spirituality), Benjamin married Jane Grove(d.1670). They had three children:Hannah(who later became a quaker),and two others..one of which we know is Elias. According to the publishing, he had two son-in-laws-Thomas Crosby and Benjamin Stinton, both who were ministers. After Jane died in 1670, Benjamin married Susannah Partridge(d.1732) of Rickmansworth,Hertfordshire. Hanserd Knollys officiated the ceremony. Wonder who hannah was married to and who the other daughter was?

I almost forgot...At the end of the publishing, Dr.Haykin said that the major source of information comes from his son-in-law Thomas Crosby. This was taken from: "The History of the English Baptists"(London:1740)4:268-314.

In further reading of Crosby's "The History of the English Baptists", Crosby states that Benjamin had 3 children by Jane Grove:Mary, Elias and Hannah. He then goes on to say that after Jane died in 1670, he remained widowed for two years. 1672 he married Susannah Partridge and with her they had 4 daughters. Now, to find out who those daughters where! Also, Crosby states that Benjamin had brothers: one was a miller and one was a brick-layer...any ideas?

Thanks for the info.I have been researching the Rhode Island Keechs for several years and am trying to tie them to an English heritage. The names of John, William, George and Benjamin were used for several generations and the first Benjamin b1681 was a minister. I will continue to research with the info you provided.

Here is an update: Hannah Keach married Thomas Crosby(b.7 Apr 1663-12 Apr 1731).He is the son of Rev.Thomas Crosby(26 Feb 1634/35-27 June 1702 in Boston,Suffolk County, Mass) and Sarah Fitch,d/o Thomas Fitch(1612-1704)and Anne Stacie(1611-1686). Thomas and Hannah had one son that I could find:John Crosby(d.25 May 1714). Rev. Thomas Crosby,(oldest son of Simon and Ann Crosby) and Sarah Fitch had the following children: Simon(5 Jul 1665-1718),Sarah(b.24 Mar 1666/67)-she married a man by the name of Silas Sears. Joseph(b.27 Jan 1668/69-d.30 May 1725),John(b.4 Dec 1670-d.25 May 1717).John also had a twin brother that died on 11 Feb 1670/71, but no name was given),William(Mar 1672/73-?),Ebenezer(28 Mar 1675-?),then there were a set of triplets:Anne, Mercy and Increase who were born on 14 Apr 1678. So, that takes care of Hannah, now the fun part with Mary!

THANK YOU, Is Mary, my Mary, the wife of George Keech, my first documented ancestor in Rhode Island? If she is, Yahoo. It has only taken me 20 years of searching to find her. George was originally in Providence, R.I. but his sons moved to the wilderness of Glocester,R.I. incorporated in 1730.

I don't know. I'm having a hard time pinning her down. Looks like we're related somewhere over the rainbow! I will keep looking...oh, and any info that you find and would like to pass along..that would be great! In fact, I am stumped on the Potter/Keech part of my tree. Retha Bell Keech(b.4 Aug 1918 Pinetown,NC-26 Jun 2003 Chesapeake,Va) m.Rudolph Shelton Potter(b.13 Jul 1915 Beaufort,NC-12 Jul 1941 Beaufort). Rudolph's parents are:John W Potter and Bessie Paul Flynn. I have info on Bessie, but it seems John W. has disappeared from history! do you have either of these in your files?
Thanks, Teresa
