Hello Keebler Cousins, I am June E'Lane Prestridge Thomas. My maternal grandparents were born in the area of Butler County, Alabama, and I believe that there are also relatives in Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida and Georgia. I am submitting what I know of my family in the hope that some of you will connect.
My mother was Altha Mae Keebler. All of her life she preferred to be called 'Billie'.
My maternal grandfather was Samuel Sylvester Keebler.
The siblings of Samuel Sylvester were five boys (six boys altogether) and three girls: Bert, Alto, Travis, Theo and Ed
Carrie, Minnie and ?
The above information was related to me by my mother.
Samuel Sylvester Keebler (b28 July 1880 - ?) married Ida Valillia Wiggins (b 25 March 1882). (Marriage date unknown). She was born in Georgiana, Butler County, Alabama, and most likely Samuel Sylvester was born in or near the same place.
At the present, I have no earlier knowledge of the family of Samuel Sylvester, but am continuing to research.
The 1900 Butler County ,Alabama census lists the family of Ivins (or possibly Irins-the census is difficult to read) Wiggins as follows: Ivins Wiggins b. April 1855 in Alabama Wife: Angeline ? b. Aug 1857 in South Car Dau: Ida Valillia b. 25 Mar 1882 in Al Son: Elton b. Feb 1875 in Al Dau Lora(should be Lola) b.Jun 1887,Al Son: Herman b. April 1890, Al Son: Leon b. Aug 1893 , Al Dau: Carmie (Carmie Lee)b. Aug 1889, Al
Another daughter, the oldest child, named Hettie had most likely already married a man named Powell.
After the death of Ivins Wiggins, Angeline married Elijah G. Smith and moved with him and her younger children to Collins,Covington County, Ms.
The Covington County, Ms census for 1910 lists Samuel Keebler and Ida Wiggins Keebler and two daughters, Lillie Mae, age five and Jubbo? age 11/12. These little girls apparently died quite you since they are not mentioned on information I have found elsewhere. This census lists Samuel Keebler as a machinest in a lumber mill. This family evidently lived in Al, Ms and Ga, since there were children born in each of these states.
The children of Samuel Sylvester and Ida Wiggins Keebler were altogether:
Dau Lillie Mae b. 1905 in Al Dau Jubbo? b. 1909,in Ga Dau: Altha Mae (Billie)b 1906 in Al Son: Clarence Eugene b. 1910 in Ga Son: Ellis Buford (Leck) b. 1912 in Ms Son: Samuel Jefferies b. 1915 in Al
Altha Mae Keebler(12 Mar 1906 - 11 Oct 1990) married Clarence Frost Prestridge (22 Oct 1906 - 25 Mar 1988) on 17 June 1925 in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Al
June E'Lane Prestridge Thomas was the only child of this union. And I have no children. Husband of June Prestridge: Lacon Hubert Carlock Thomas of La Follette, Campbell County, Tennessee
Clarence Eugene Keebler died of an accident when he was still a young man. One of his daughters has posted to this board and may prefer to present her personal information and is due that courtesy.
Ellis Buford married two sisters of Winfield , Al,first Gladys, who bore one or more children , one of her children was a son, Charles Keebler, and then Effie, who may also have born one or more children. Both sisters died very young. Ellis moved -possible to Chicage and married a third time and that marriage produced one or more children(name/sex unknown)
Samuel Jefferies (called Jeff) married Margaret ? from Pell City, Alabama. They had a daughter, 'Pat' and probably another child.
I hope this information is useful and that my Keebler Cousins will help me fill in the blanks. As I learn more, I will share-
A personal note to Marilyn. I look forward to hearing from you. My computer was down for an extended period and I missed/lost a good many messages during the repair process.I'm very sorry not to have received yours.
Keeblers, if you want to see a really good genealogical message board in progress, take a look at (Onelist.com/messages/Prestridge). Hopefully we can do a repeat-let's start it, and as they say'others will follow'
My very best to all of You,
June

Terry,
I am not reconciled with thinking that my grandfather, Samuel Sylvester Keebler(b. 28 July 28, 1880) was from the Tenessee line-although, he may have been. I am in close contact with the Tennessee Line, visited with a direct descendent, and have a copy of their charts. We have not found the connection, though it may be there. There is another group of Keeblers in the Savannah, Georgia area. My grandparents had one son, Clarence Eugene, who was born in Georgia (They also had a son born in Mississippi and one in Alabama, and two very young children who died in Mississippi)Clarence is a name I have found in the Savannah area. I have been concentrating on my Wiggins line and will do the same later for the Keebler line. These two families seem to be inter-related. I have been told-but have not yet proven-that my grandparents were cousins. I am presently in Fl., and the most of my research is in Tn. I know that at one point I have the census copy of a Samuel Keebler, age appx 72 yrs of age, living with a Wiggins man( in his 50's )and his children. Samuel Keebler was listed as an uncle to the Wiggins man. Exact census info to follow-if you want it- when I return home in several weeks
Keep in touch,my best,
JPT

My aunt has researched Keebler geneology all the way back to 1794. There was a Peter Keebler born sometime around 1794. He was from Orangeburg, SC, married Anna Snell (father John Snell). They came to Wilcox around 1820. Peter Keebler had a son named John J Keebler. That is as far back as my aunts research goes. If anyone has anything older than that on this branch please let me know. My grandfather was Austin Kane Keebler SR (7-25-23 to 4-86), he was born in Monroe Co., Al and lived and died in Mobile, Al. His parents were Ruth Carroll(Turner, Ga) and Arthur Keebler (mother Nancy Caroline Burk). Austin married Norma Hatley. I hope this info helps someone and if you need anything in between let me know. If you have anything I can use please let me know.

Keeblers in Alabama/Samuel Sylester Keebler
Greetings,
I am June Thomas, daughter of Altha Mae Keebler Prestridge. Her parents were Ida Valillia Wiggins b. 1882 and Samuel Sylester Keebler b. 1880.
In your message posted here on the Keebler Message board, you mentioned Nancy Caroline Burk as being the mother of Arthur Keebler. Recently in Greenville, Butler County, Alabama, I copied a marriage certificate for "S P Keebler 21 and Miss N C Burk 18 were married on the 7th day of November at the home of ?Jas Wiggins. The marriage was performed by Elder Geo T ?Chute, Latter Day Saint"
It would seem that this is the same person mentioned as the mother of Arthur Keebler.
Can you tell me anything about the family history of Samuel Sylester Keebler. I would be so grateful to hear anything you know about this family and I am always willing to share anything I know or can find out. Someone has mentioned three Keebler brothers who arrived in this country at a very early date-actually, I have been told that there was a fourth-can you tell me anything about them and the route they took to arrive in Alabama? I am having real difficulty getting past my grandfather, S S Keebler, and I believe we have a link.
I will appreciate hearing-my best to you
June
