Hi Beckie,
I have Rebecca Kebaugh(Keebaugh) in the 1850 Meigs Co.,
Orange Twp.Ohio census. She is 12 years old in that census.
She is listed with her parents; Samuel Kebaugh-53,farmer,
born in PA. Nancy-49 born in Maryland. Also listed are;
Melissa-9, Julyann-15,Isaac-19,Susan-3. In the same census,
Samuel Kebaugh's father, Isaac Kebaugh and his wife, Mary,
are also found. Isaac Kebaugh is 82 and Mary is 83.
Isaac Kebaugh(Kiebach) was born Aug.3,1767 in PA and died
Oct.10,1857. Buried at Keebaugh Cemetery,Meigs,Ohio. Isaac
was the son of Johann Frederick Kuhbach and Anna Catherine
Felty. Isaac's wife was Mary(Anna Marie)Haag born in 1767
PA. She died July 19,1851 also buried at Keebaugh Cemetery.
Johann Kuhbach born about 1730 in Europe, died about 1813
in Pa. He was the son of Christoff Kuhbach. His wife, Anna
Felty was the daughter of George Felty and Anna Marie Heilze. George John Felty born 1714 June 24 in Osterdingen,
Germany. He died in 1796 in Bethel Twp.Lebannon PA. He
served in the Rev. War under Capt. John Phillips, 3rd. Reg.
Hunterdon PA. His wife, Anna Marie Heilze was born Dec 4,
1725 in Klonen, Switzerland. George and Anna had 12 children.
I hope this is the information that you were looking for.
In my records I have Rebecca married to Marion Bodkins. I
didn't have the Francis part. I will add that to my info.
The Keebaugh name gets changed very often. In other Keebaugh
records, I see that they have Nancy Keebaugh being born in
Maine. My census records always show Maryland. In my gg-
grandmother Melissa Keebaugh Rither's last found census,
she also states that her mother, Nancy, was born in Maryland. Let me know if this info. helps you out.
Take care.
Sincerely,
Penny

You have given me so much more info. on the Johann Kuhbach b 1730.
His son Isaac Kiebach b 1767 d 1857,
had a son Isaac Keebaugh b 1803 d 1860,
his son Welford Keebaugh b1836 d 1963 and m to Celena Startin. Of those listed above is there any more new info. since the Keebaugh book came out in 1984?

The family of his son George Welford b 6 Jan 1872 , d 6 May 1959, m Amana Jane Young 11 Sept 1895 in Iowa, took his bride home to Neb. Had ch: **Hazel 1896, Emerson 1898, Orville 1900, Ruth A. 1902.

[My hope is you might have more info. on the dt Hazel b 1896.] what I have been able to learn is Hazel m Joe Baker they had 6 ch. Before her marriage to Joe Baker, Hazel had a dt. Orleath Mae Keebaugh, Orleath told me (she age 84, in Jan 2004 and living in Red Bluff, Ca.), she was adopted by her grandparents Geo. Welford and Amana Keebaugh. When Orleath was a teenager she lived with Hazel and Joe Baker, later she married Lewis Lloyd Lawver, in 1936 and had 6 ch of her own.

Thank you

Hi Virginia,
I have Hazel listed being married to Joe Baker. I traced Hazel in the 1920 Nebraska,Polk Co. census. Hazel is unmarried living with her parents, George and Amana. Orletha M. is listed as being 1 year old, and a granddaughter of George and Amana. It lists her fathers birth location as UNKNOWN.
In the 1930 Nebraska,Polk census, George and Amana still have a granddaughter, Orletha age ten living with them. Still lists her fathers place of birth as UNKNOWN. Hazel and Joe Baker are living in York county Nebraska with six children. A picture of that Keebaugh clan includes the Bakers and Youngs. Orletha is not given a last name as all the Keebaughs are listed with only their first names. The rest, like the Youngs and Baker clan have their first and last names attached to them. Hazel was unmarried when she gave birth to Orletha. Do you have a copy of the Keebaugh book? That's about all the info that I have. Let me know if there is anything else that I might check on for you.
Sincerely, Penny

Thank you, Penny,

I do have a request of you. A copy of that 1920 census, of Joe Baker and Welford Keebaught households, it would sure help me tie things together.
Orleath herself gave me the full names and birthdates of all but one of her brothers and sisters.

Children of Joseph Heppenstaw Baker, "Joe Baker", and his wife Hazel E. Keebaugh: [Heppenstaw is Joe's mother's maiden name. Joe was born in Arkansas.]

Rachel Amana Baker, b 26 June 1921 Neb. [say am a na]
George Evans Baker, b 7 May 1922 Neb.
Lloyd Lyle Baker, b 30 May 1923 Neb.
Orville Dale Baker, b 11 Jan 1925 Neb.
Cecil John Baker, b 1926? Neb.
Margaret Emeline Baker, b 24 Dec 1927 Neb.

Only 2 or 3 are still living, but Orleath asked me to list them for the sake of their children, so they can tie in to the family tree when they come looking for where they come from.

I do not have a copy of the Keebaugh Book, but there are some pages on the internet. I would like to get a copy of the book, do you know where I could send for a copy? Or are any still available? How many $$?

Again, I want to thank you for the new information (to me) on the very early family history.

Hi Janet,
I have about 35 pages of family history, I worked up with the 85 year old first born daughter of Hazel, just last year. Orletha Lawver, she died last month, 14 June 2005, she was Joe's step-daughter, she had many pictures which she identified and then I made copies of and still have them. Orletha Lawver was Hazel first born child, before Joe and she were married. In fact Joe was gifted $10,000 dollars to rasie the child Orletha, as his own and he did somewhat. He was always good to her, this I heard from Orletha herself. I would always love to share information with you. I do hope I can help, because Orletha had 6 children, and one, my brother married and they had 5 of their own.
