Researching the ancestors and descendants of the Thomas Kee family that came from Cork County Ireland and settled in Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois. Thomas Kee was married to Jane Kilpatrick in Ireland and came to the United States sometime in the late 1840's as their names appear in the 1850 Morgan County, Illinois census record. It was noted in the obituary of Jane Kee that she was the mother of 9 children. I can account for 7. John b: August 19, 1840, d: April 3, 1920; Jane (Jennie) b: December 18, 1843 d:June 13, 1924; Thomas b:1847/48 d:January 1872; William b:1850; James b:1856 d:June 1876; Margaret b: 1858 d: Dec 1873; Frances Elizabeth b:June 1, 1861 d:June 3, 1942. John Kee is my Grandfather. He married Malinda Jane Johnson and he and his family moved to Richardson County, Nebraska in the summer of 1886. INTERESTED in determining the birthplace of Thomas and Jane Kee in Ireland, port from which they sailed, ship name and destination city in the United States.

Kee Surname - answering Shelley''s message
Shelley, Are you Theodore Hering's daughter? Teddy, as we always called him, is my nephew, Wilma was my oldest sister. I have information that goes back to the great grandfather who came from Ireland. I have been trying to find out where he came from in Ireland, what ship he sailed on and into what port in the United States he arrived. Would you be interested in a hard copy of the Kee genealogy as far as I have it? I can send a copy by snail mail if I could get your address. Hope to hear from you. Arnetta KEE Whitlock Thought I would respond this way before sending you a copy of the material I have. Thomas Kee, married to Jane Kilpatrick in Ireland, came to the US in the late 1840's with several children via sailing vessel. My grandfather, John Kee was 8 years old at the time and they settled in Jacksonville, Illinois as Thomas, Jane and several of the children were listed in the 1850 Morgan County, Illinois census. Thomas and Jane died there. John, who married Malinda Jane Johnson, moved to Nebraska in about 1886 and were residents of Nebraska for the rest of their lives. This son, John, was their only surviving boy. Does any of this sound familiar. Thomas could have had brothers or uncles who came over and so that would be another branch on the family tree, but we have been unable to learn anything more than what I have written. If you would care to pursue this further, here is our E-mail address: rlivi1926@aol.com or juno.com. Iona

Iona - My research also includes my G-G-G-Grandfather, Thomas KEE, b l804, I assume in VA, as his brother Andrew was b l806 in Botetourt Co., VA. Thomas md. Rachel Pauley in Giles Co., VA in l826, went to TN where 5 children were born; then over to north-central GA where 3 more were born. About the time of Civil War, they moved over to Southern Illinois (Jackson Co) where Thomas died l865. I'm stuck beyond Giles Co., VA; can't seem to locate parents or a beginning point which family stories have mentioned as Tyrone Co., Ireland.
Your Thomas sounds much younger. But if any of these names ring a bell, please get back with me. Thanks!
