I am looking for a John Keddington who was perhaps married to a Lucy Tipple. It may have been an illegitamate coupling, but they had a child tamed John Tipple Keddington.

I have Lucy Tipple married to a James Keddington in my records. Their son was John Tipple Keddington, born 1780. Does anyone have records of the Keddingtons prior to this??

You are right. I meant to type in that JAMES Keddington was married to Lucy Tipple. What kind of records do you have of this? I'm curious because some of us think that John Tipple Keddington might have been illegitamate. As for earlier records, we seem to have reached a stand-still.I can't find earlier records, though I've found a few leads. If you are interested in knowing what I've got, contact me and I'll dig out my files.

Hi, thanks for answering. I have the geneology my elderly aunt researched without computers in the sixties. She would probably have covered up any hints of illegitimacy. We have a pedigree chart that goes from my children back eight generations to their great, great, great, great, great, great grandparents James and Lucy. She came to a block with them. She has James Sr. being born in 1754 with a AFN # of C9SL-9H and Lucy born in 1758 with an AFN# of C9SL-BN.She last worked on it in 1987. I'd love any information on them. I'd love to pass it on to my 88 year old aunt. My grandmother was Faye Keddington, daughter of John Keddington and Rosa Emily Hilton. What side of the family are you from? CE

My mother is a Keddington. I come from Joseph Keddington and Sarah Ann Kirkman. I used to have all of this memorized, but it's been a while since I've really studied this out, so I'll have to get my pedigree out in order to tell you more about how far along I am.
My mother and our second cousin Kris Latham both suspect that Lucy Tipple and James Keddington weren't married; indeed, I believe I found record once of a different marriage for James Keddington. It is possible, of course, that he was widowed. However, if John Tipple Keddington was illegitamate, or at least conceived out of wedlock, it is possible that there was a pattern of that in our line and that James Keddington was also illegitimate, which could answer our questions as to why none of us has been able to find a record of his parentage.
The person you should get in contact with is Kris Latham. I will have to get her information from my mother. If you would like to call me, feel free to call at (801)371-9713, and I can help you get in contact with either my mother or Kris Latham. And again, next time I'm at my parent's house I'll hunt around for my research into this line. Thank you so much for getting in contact! It's exciting work, isn't it?
