I don't know if this means anything, but my Grandmother was a Keck and she had brothers named Hiram and William. I can share what info. I have, but I'm not sure whether my Kecks ever lived in Tennessee. I know they came to Indiana from Kentucky. If you'd like to swap stories, my email is: jkallen@cheerful.com. Thanks and good luck!

I am doing research on the Keck family of Indiana/Kentucky/Tennessee. I have at least three Hiram Keck's. My Keck line came from Germany, coming over in 1732 and settling in PA. From there they moved to TN, KY and IN. There were alot of Keck's. I just have mostly my direct line as well as their siblings and closes cousins, and from that I have hundreds. I will be happy to share what I have. What was your grandmother's name? I may be able to fit it in with my info.

Thanks for responding to my message. My grandmother's name was Dale Keck, her parents were Robert Henry Keck and Mahalle Belle (McHargue) Keck. My understanding is they came to Indiana from Kentucky and that they were ousted from their town in Kentucky because Mahalle was a Native American and the local community felt very strongly against mixing races at that time. None of that has been substantiated, however, and McHargue hardly sounds like an indian name, but I could be wrong. I'd love to hear from you. Any information you might have would be helpful. My email is jkallen@cheerful.com. Thanks!

My great aunt Doris (Keck) O'Hair of Greencastle, Indiana has a very detailed McHargue book. I have a little bit of McHargue info myself, but not a whole lot. I have tons and tons on the Kecks.

John KECK is my brick wall. He was born in Penn. 12 July 1783. He married Maria BARRON 8 July 1816 in Roxborough. He was a carpenter and lived at 6th near Coates' in Philadelphia from 1813 to 1817.

Have looked for many years for his and Maria's parents, siblings, etc.

They moved to Ohio ca 1820. We have descendants from their four children: Margaret, Isaac Church, Barron and Julia.

Family lore is that our Kecks came from the Black Forest area in Germany.

I would appreciate any help that can be offered. Thank you.

Maxine

Thanks for responding to my message. Your Aunt Doris could very well be related to me, seeing as how most of that part of my family was from around that area in Indiana. I would be very intersted in whatever information you could provide, especially on the Kecks, but the Mchargues as well. Please email me at jkallen@cheerful.com. Thank you, sorry it took so long to get back with you.

I read several of you postings and Im interested in knowing if your Kecks and mine are of any relation. Im searching for the parents of Mary Clementine Keck of Martin County Indiana. Mary married my gg grandfather Thomas D. Payton. I found mary listed as Clementine on the 1970 census of Martin County, McCameron township at the age of 14. also listed was a Nancy age 36, Almira age 11 and a McHuell age 9. would love to know if this is a connection with your family. you may contact me by email. Thanks
