Looking for info on John Kebell, supposedly born in London in an area in which he claimed he was a true 'cockney', approx. 1880, +/- 5 yrs. He was a boot and shoemaker and at some point got married and he and his wife, Hannah Walton (born approx. same time at ??), lived in Haswell, County Durham, UK. They had five children that I know of; Harold, George, Edith, Mary and Henrietta, also known as May.

Any info on either would be of great help as I just keep coming up against brick walls.

John Kebell was my great grandfather and lived in Haswell where he had a number of sons and daughters including Harold (my grandad), George, Edith, Maty and May. Harold was the only one who continued the family name with a son George who in turn had 3 sons Guy, Michael and me. We al still live in the North East. I believe all of the first generation are now dead but my Dad should be able to give you loads of Information on John Kebell and Hannah Kebell who was still alive in 1960.

My great-grandfather came to US from London, England in mid 1800's. His name was Thomas Kebbell. While his mother and father died before he came to US, he had many Uncles and Aunts. The story my mother told me was that he lived with an Aunt in Illinois. He met his wife (my great-grandmother) and settled in Kentucky. There are no male Kebbells left in my family, but I would love to find the Illinois connection. Love to talk to you!
