Keatinge surname etc.

I am researching Keatinge family connections for a John R. Keatinge, born in Ireland in about May of 1856. His parents were Richard Keatinge and Mary Morris. We don't know what town he was from. Also, we are interested to know if you have any information as to why some Keatinges are without the E on the end! We have heard a couple of theories.

Keatinge DNA project

Hi, I am the administrator for the Keating (Keatinge) DNA project at Family Tree DNA. I would like to invite all the Keating's to join this project. Please go to the following link for more information and instructions for ordering your DNA kit:

http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=D58830&am...

For all of us who have reached the "brick wall" in our research, this is another avenue to explore. I recently found a son of a cousin to test my Keatting DNA. His results are pending at this time. The more Keatting men who join this project, the more results we will have to compare.

Related Names:
Caton, Kaitting, Keating, Keatting, Keatinge

Requirements:

Since a Surname Project in essence traces members of a family that share a common surname, and females (a) don't carry their father's Y-DNA, and (b) acquire a new surname by the way of marriage, in order to be relevant to the Surname Project, the tested individual must be a male that wants to check his paternal line (father's father's father's...). The test to be ordered is either the Y-DNA12, Y-DNA25 or Y-DNA37, and females should look for a brother or cousin with that surname to be tested. Females can also order a test for themselves, which will be the mtDNA or mtDNAPlus, but the results of this test cannot be tied to the Surname Project.

Questions?
Not sure if this is a situation that applies to you? Want to obtain additional information? Contact the Keating Group Administrator.

Kathy
KKeatting@msn.com
takbird@msn.com

Joseph M. and Carrie Keatinge

Joseph M. and Carrie Bates were married about 1890; he was married before and had several children with his first wife and several with Carrie. In 1910 they were living in Lewiston, Idaho and by 1914 were in Portland, Oregon. He was born in Indiana and was a lawyer. She was born in Providence on Sept. 23, 1877. She later married E.A. Crouchley and lived in Hollywood, Ca. I am desperate for more information on both people. Thank you.
