Hello,

Are you still looking for info on this line? Dunlap was my paternal 5th great-grandfather, through his son, Robison.

I too am looking for more info on Dunlap. Where in Ireland was he born? If he was born in Ireland, when and where did he cross/land/enter the US?

Have a little info, but seems to be the same data that all of us who are researching Dunlap has at this point.

Would love to compare info! Happy to correspond with anyone researching this line.

Thanks!!

I have a Jonathan Kearnes (various spellings) b. abt 1852 in Ohio. From the 1880 census, his parents were born in Virginia. Married Eliza Caroline James 30 Jun 1878 in Hiattsville, Bourbon, Kansas. They had 3 children all b. in Kansas: William abt 1870, Anna Louise b. 1881, and Thomas Marion b. 1883. The family was in Pawnee, Bourbon, Kansas on the 1880 census. They moved to Laclede County, Missouri, where I believe Jonathan and William died.

Eliza remarried in 1898 at Laclede County, Missouri, to Robert G. Russell. They were listed in Galena City, Cherokee, Kansas, on the 1900 census. She was listed as having 3 children with 2 living.

I would be greatful for any information on this family.

My husbands mother was a Kearnes. Her father was
Powhatan Beverly Kearnes and her mother was Mary Embrey.
There is a Kearnes reunion every year up in Jeffersonton
[west of Warrenton va] Everyone brings their data to add
or change in the scrapbook. It is usually held the first
part of September or October. The library in Warrenton
Va. has tons of info on the Kearnes family.
I have info back to Edward Embrey[Governor Ned] down to
all his children and their families. Robert Calvin
Embrey married Mary Elizabeth Dempsey. One of their
children was Mary Calvin Embrey who married Powhatan
beverly Kearnes. I have info on all 12 of their kids
and their childrens children to the best extent I can
have. I have not been doing research on this family
lately asI have persued other families. Patricia

I'm sure I met Geneva when I was very young, and I remember my grandmother talking about her and her brother Reginald. I've also communicated with Barb - she's a great resource. I also need to get up to Loveland and visit her - I live in the Denver area. Nice to meet another cousin!!

I had not been able to find much information until I had communicated with Barb Wilkinson. She was very helpful. I had been hoping to make the time to visit Berthoud and Loveland libraies and cemetaries but haven't as yet. Who were your granparents?

Charles Henry Keirnes was my great-great-grandfather. He and Richard and their families (and the Templeman sisters parents) migrated from Virginia to Ohio to Missouri and eventually settled in the Berthoud, Colorado area. The historical society in Berthoud has a book that contains information on the families and pictures hanging on the walls of the local museum. I have tons of info on the family, but not much before their generation. Ann married the eldest brother, whose name unfortunately escapes me at the moment. They spent some time in Colorado but eventually settled back in Ohio. Most of the family is buried at the Greenlawn cemetary at Berthoud, where my father and his parents and grandparents are also buried.

I would love to exchange information with you. I have also been talking to others on this board. Barbara Wilkinson has quite a bit of information on this family too. Maybe together we can all put this puzzle together. For starters do you have Jacob Vincent Kearns as Mary's brother? There are two schools of thought on him and I am beginning to think I am wrong about him and he is not Mary's and my Andrew's brother. What are your thoughts? Thanks. Amy

Sorry for the delay in getting back with you...thanks so much for your reply about Abraham Kearns. We just visited my Uncle Bill in August. I hadn't been back to Lewisburg in over 15 years. My children had never been there, nor had they seen the homestead where my Dad grew up, so it was neat. Uncle Bill told me that someone from the Kearns side had stopped by and was very interested in the letters he had. So Thomas Kearns is your 3rd great grandfather? And Thomas was Alexander's brother, correct? Do you know much more about Alexander and Abraham? If so, would love to hear. My 11 yr. old son is doing some research on his genealogy and wants to know what his ancestors were like... Thanks, Beth

I am very interested in the Keirnes family from Fauquier, VA. I have 3 brothers, Charles, William and Richard Keirnes who married 3 Templeman sisters. All from Fauquier county. They have a sister Mary C Wines who lives here is Colorado for a brief time (late 1880's ) then returnes to VA at possibly the same time as another brother James K Keirnes. I believe Mary C to be the wife of Daniel Wines. Her husband is said to related to the wives of her brothers. The Templeman girls parents are William Templeman and Frances Ann Wines. also from Fauquier county. Would love to see if my Mary C is the Mary Catherine daughter of William and Catherine Heflin as I believe. Any help you can give or anything you would like to see, please contact me at bwgumby@msn.com

I"ve been searching for Abraham and Alexander Kearns and found this post. Alexander is my great, great, great grandfather. He built a home in Lewisburg, WV that has been handed down through the family via the daughters. My father, James Alexander Turner was raised in that home and now my Aunt Monna (Martha Turner McMurray-- died just last year) and Uncle Bill (Col. William McMurray) occupy the home. My Uncle Bill is a treasure trove of historical info.and has personal letters of Alexander and (I believe) his brother. If you receive this and want to reply, please do!
