According to my records, I believe your mother was born 29 Oct., 1896. Her father was Benjamin Franklin Keahey and mother Lovella.
If that is so you have aunts named Mary and Lois and uncles named Benjamin, Archie, William, Joseph and Darwin. On my listing that is the 6th generation. That would make you the seventh generation which is the same as my wife's father. You would be my wife's parents fourth cousin. The keahey name was MacKeachey when they came from Ireland. They had come from Scotland and only stayed a short time in Ireland. They came in the middle to late 1700's to North Carolina. They lived west of Fayetteville and spread from there. More later. Al

I am also trying to find out about my last name. I have talked to my grandfather, and he says that we are from Scotland, originally. I have asked him what the last name was before it became Keahey, and he said it was Mackeahey. I don't know if I spelled it correctly, but I hope it was helpful.
I am only 15, but I am very curious as to what my ancestors did and who they were. If you know of anyone who might be able to help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
The only specific names I know from "my branch" of the family are John R., Eldridge, Elsie, and Mary Pearl. I don't know who these people were, but I think they are my great-great- and great grandparents. My grandfather is Louis Leon Keahey, and he grew up in Tallassee, Al. He currently lives in Ashland, Al.
I hope that you can help me, as well as me help you.
Thank You,
Kasey L. Keahey

From what I can figure out, you are quite closely related to my wife. If your great-great grandfather is John Ransom, he is my wife's grandfather's brother. I am presently looking for information from that side of the family. I contacted J.R. who lives in Tallassee in May about getting his side on the family. His son is Bobby D. who lives in Tallassee also. I became very busy with things other than genealogy and am just having some time now. I know that thwre was at least 16 children in the family and with siblings that is a lot.
The Keahey's did come from Scotland. They were in Ireland a short time and then came to the U.S. most likely thru the ports of Wilmimgton or Charleston. They settled in N.C. and then moved west. Some settled settled in Dale County. They are now all over. I will publish a new book on the Keahey's when things slow down so I have time. Please contact me at ajaques806@aol.com

Thank you for contacting me. I really appreciate it. I went to the Keahey family reunion in June and met Uncle J.R. I went through the family Bible and found that my grandfather (Louis) had about 12 siblings. I have only met 4 of them, I think. If you (or I) find anything else that concerns that part of the family, please contact me.
I have also started the family tree, but it goes from my grandfather down. These were the only people I knew!
Well, thank you again.

Classification: Query
I am interested in the Keahey Clan Revisited book. I understand that was also an edition before this one. I would be interested to know if this would be my family connection.

My gmother was Martha Susanne Keahey Goins, daughter of James Jackson Keahey, son of George Pleasant Keahey, son of George Jackson Keahey, son of John MacKeachey.

My ancestors include Goins, Boyd, Campster, Keahey.
