Looking for relationship between the Keagy's of Lancaster County, PA and the Hess's of Lancaster County (Safe Harbor/Conestoga Twp/ Manor Twp area). My great-great grandfather Edward Hess married a relation to the Keagy's and as a result the name Keagy has been passed down today to my fahter Edward Keagy Hess, Jr.

John got your message, sorry I have no info on the Keagy's prior to coming to America.

But if you have info on John / Hans and his decendents here in America (Lancaster county) I would be interested.

This is what I have;

My great great grandmother was Catherine Keagy (1785-1867) who married a John Hess of whom we know very little. Catherine had a sister Sarah who married a Christian Hess (brother or cousin of John). Catherine and Sarah are the daughthers of Abraham KEAGY b: ABT 1761 in Lancaster County, PA and Catherine BOWMAN b: 1743.

Abraham Keagy is to be the son of Rudolph (Richard) KEAGY Birth: 1723 in Lancaster County, PA Death: ABT 1785 who was the son of Hanse (John Rudolph) KEAGY b: 1693 in Zurich, Switzerland and Rebecca PATTERSON b: 1690 in Ireland.

Rebecca PATTERSON Birth: 1690 in Ireland daughter of James PATTERSON b: 16xx in Ireland mother unknown.

I read your inquiry about Keagys, and I have a book called "A history, Kagy Relationship in America" 1715-1900. My maiden name was Margaret Keagy, and my father was Roy Keagy who's brother Clyde, is grandparent to Philip Keagy, and I've been in touch with him. My line, as I traced it in that book, goes from John Rudolph (Hans) Kagi of Lancaster PA, to Jacob (married Veronica Stehman), to their son Jacob (wife S. Groestin) to their son John (known also as "preacher")--and he was one of about 9 children of that couple--who married Susan Longanecker; their son Joseph (one of 8 children) married Barbara Baysler; they had four children, one of which was Emanuel who married Etta Low and were parents of my father Roy and his brother Clyde; widowed, he married again, Jennie Rankin, who had Walter and Edward, halfbrothers of my father. My father married Leona Schatz, Cincinnati Ohio, and they had three--my sister Ruth, brother Robert, and me. I was born in 1916. I was able to trace all this through that book the family published. I understand all Keagys in this country go back to John Rudolph.

Margaret, thanks for the tip. Actually since having posted my initial message I had seen the book by Franklin Keagy, and found some very good info on the relationship to the Hess's (John Hess and Catherine Keagy) of whom I am descended from. Catherine (1785-1867) and her sister Sarah are the daughters of Abraham Keagy and Catherine Bowman.

Thank you.
