Bob, Im Dwayne's little brother who lives in Chicago. I just ran across this website. Dwayne's going after Ur. Im looking for the lost tribe of my line in Switzerland. Hans Kagy or John Rudolph Kagy born in Switzerland around late 1600's. Came to Lancaster Co. PA, 1715. Mennonite. Married Rebecca Patterson around 1716. Died about 1748 in Lancaster Co. PA. Does anyone have contact or know of books on anyone in Switzerland before the late 1600's?

John,
Is it possible that in your line there was an Alexander Keagy b. about 1827-1837, supposedly married Gettysburg before he moved to Swiss OH., there he joined to fight in the C.W. and died of camp disease 1863. He left a wife and children, John William Hamilton Keagy,Arrabella A. E. Keagy, Laura B. Keagy, another son and possibly a sister of daughter by Catherine. His wife was Catherine Cullens (of MD). They moved to possibly other parts of OH before moving to Darke Co. OH and later the family moved just over the state line into Randolph Co. IN.
Thank you for your time.

John, I just posted a note about a Franklin Keagey of Chambersburg, at the Franklin Co. PA webpage, I think it has to do with your Swiss Keagy family. Jean

I know that my Alexander (called Abe during CW, likely first name Abraham), lived Chambersburg PA before moving to OH. Alex/Abe married his wife Catharine Cullins/Cullings/Collins in Hagerstown, while she lived over the line in MD prior. It is believed that he was Mennonite and was dropped from family records when he wed Catharine, due to religious reasons. For some reason the daughers name changes in each census record I found, Isabella to Arabella A E then to Laura B., she wed a Strader in Darke co. Oh and died, leaving no children that I am aware of. Have found records in Darke co. OH listing the family name in many ways, Keagey, Keaggy, Caggy, Keagy. At times the K has looks like an H, I can see why people came up with such names as Hagy, Heagy, Heagey. We have difficulty reading the writing of yesteryear. I have little hope of connecting this line with others, but I know that there are still Kagi in the Swiss regions of Europe. I had friends in Germany that knew a David and Stephen Kagi/Kagy.
