Brent,
One of my Keady family members just came back from Washington Co.Penn. with the info below:

Tuesday, June 2nd I spent the day at Citizens Library in Washington, Washington County, PA. They have an excellent genealogy collection, but limited material on Patton, McFarland and Keady.

There was a paper published in the early/mid 1800's called the "Examiner" Over the years old copies have beebn screened for deaths and marriages.

KEADY

Saturday Oct 22, 1842. Married on the same day (refers to entry above which was the 6th) by the Rev. Charles Wheeler, William McF. Keady, to Miss Martha Jane Patton, all of this place.

I am certain that the Moses Keady who married Jane McNary Beall was not in Pennsylvania. He lived in Washington County, Illinois. The earlier Moses arrived from Co Donegal, Ireland, at New Brunswick, Canada and immediately took ship, the Schooner Cyrus, to Baltimore, MD where he met and married Jane Norris. A few years later he moved his family, including jane's sister Mary Ann Norris to Ohio and eventually to Illinois. Their son Moses married Jane McNary Beall, still in Wash Co, Ill, and lived there until he died. The Keadys who lived in PA must be a collateral family and not directly connected to this one.

Janeice Keady Crosson:

I do not know if you're around as I see the message is quite dated. I began to study my genealogy and have also discovered Sameul Renwick Keady who was my great grandfather, Moses Keady who was my great-great grandfather, and Moses Sr who would have been my great-great-great grandfather who was from Ireland. I believe we are cousins of the sort.

Either way---I'm continuing my search in Ireland now and see that perhaps some of your digging has unEarthed even more from there. Thanks for your work. Hope you are well.

Janeice: without question, you are an amazing authority on our heritage!

I started digging on my own tonight and found that am the g-g grandson of Samuel Renwick Keady, who was the son of Moses (born in Maryland) who was the son of another Moses. (who I derived came across from Ireland--thanks to the post below, I now know where)

Samuel Renwick's son James Robert Keady, is my grandfather--from Wakeeny, KS (1902-1986). I am the son of Raymond Lewis Keady (1942-2005).

Any information on Moses who came across to Canada and scooted down to Maryland from Ireland is greatly appreciated, as that is as far back as I can get at this point.

If you've not heard anything, I'll just fill you in on what I've learned lately just starting my research.

Matthew is probably also known as M.N. Keady, son of Moses. Moses is also my great grandfather. Moses had another son, (among 6 children--one who died at age 2) Samuel Renwick Keady. He is my great grandfather. His son is Robert Sr, my granddad. Robert Sr had four children. Robert Jr, who is nearing the end of his life, Raymond--my father (d.2005), Debbie Eppler (d.2001), and Paul who lives in Vegas.

Moses Keady's dad was also Moses, and his father before him. Moses Keady was a Civil War vet, lived a quiet life after that.

Moses's father came off the boat from County Donegal Ireland. His father, Moses--stayed in Ireleand. Was a well to do farmer there. Hope that helps.
