In reply to Tina's message, there were two Kayati families that came to the U.S. One settled in Youngstown, OH and one settled in Philadelphia, PA. I am a descendent of Adam and Mary Kayati who came to Phila in 1886. Please contact me to share more info, and maybe we can figure out how the 2 Kayati families are connected. You may e-mail me directly at tkayati@hotmail.com

Tina I'm a member of the Kayati clan from Youngstown.
My grandmother, Suzanee Kayati was one of the nine children. I don't have birth dates, deaths or marriage records, etc., handy, but I know my mother has all of that stuff. The Kayatis have had reunions in Youngstown most years, though I believe there was not one this year. I was a faithful attender in my youth and am thus acquainted with all branches of the nine. All of the Kayati children are dead now, I believe. I believe that Ann Duesing was the last of the siblings to die not but a few years ago. You must be a descendant from that branch of the family. I was close with the Reids and Ramsey part of the Duesing clan; they are all scattered now also.
I do not live in Youngstown any more, but my mother has a lot of information. She has made a beautiful pictorial family tree. I've borrowed some of the photos to scan and save at home. I'll try to get some done and email to you.

P.S. This is my first time to this site. I was really just messing around on the computer and it's just happenstance that I stumbled across this.

I was so glad to get your message. It is great to finally talk to someone who knows things about the family. Yes Anna died last Feb. She was 97 years old. I would love to see some of the pictures of the family from long ago and recent. I don't really know that much about when the Kayati's came to America and such. Do you have that kind of information. I also had some people look things up for me in Youngstown and I have alot to death, marriage, birth and tombstone pictures w/obit. I would be more than happy to send you these things. If of course you don't already have them. :)
Let me know how we can hook up and I am looking forward to talking with you again.

Hello! Your Great grandfather smoked a pipe and painted watercolors. You may have been named for his Uncle Andrew Kayati, who was one of nine children. My grandmother was one of those nine, Elizabeth Kayati! I have some great pictures and I also have a pianting that was done by your great grandfather. He gave it to my grandmother as a gift. We are Hungarian, your great great grandmother was Suzanne Pastor. I'd love to talk more! Martha

Hi there! I am so sorry I dropped the ball when we were in touch with each other. My fater got ill and in fact passed away in 2003. Now, years later, I am cleaning out his home and have found great photos. I am in touch with Sherry Milligan about once a year, and with her Mom, Viola, a few times a year, too. I still have the family information you sent me. I will try to complete the papers and send it back in the next few weeks. I can tell you that the Kayati's had a butcher shop in the early days in Youngstown. Take care, Martha
