Anna Kawa, married to Andrej Gac
Hello!
I am the G2-grandson of Anna Kawa and Andrej Gac. Their daughter, Mary Gac (Gatz), immigrated to the US (South Amboy, NJ) in 1905. She lists in her immigration records that she lived in Glinik, Poland.
Mary had a sister, Katherine, who married Anton Flaga in South Amboy.
My great-aunt believes that one of her grandmothers, possibly Anna (Kawa) lived to be 95, but she doesn't remember how she came by this information. If any of these names ring any bells for you, please feel free to contact me.
Thanks!
Mike

Yes, Kawa is a Polish name, I believe it means "Coffee" in that language.
My mom's side is all Polish. Kawa was the name of my g2-grandmother, who married Andrzej Gac in Glinik Charzewski in 1884.
Any of this ring family bells for you?
Thank you!

Re: Anna Kawa, married to Andrej Gac
I'm not sure the name Andrzej Gac rings any bells, but I have found other surnames belonging to grand relatives and so on. My grandmother's maiden name was Siwy (which means gray horse,or gray I think), and her mother's (my great-grandma) maiden name was Partarz. My grandfather's mother's (my other great-grandma) maiden name was Turkiewicz, and her mother's (my great-great grandma) maiden name was Koryga.
Any of these sound familiar? I'm not the family tree has reached far back enough yet, though. I don't have that much information. I know that Anna (Partarz) Siwy immagrated to America, and that John Kawa (my great-grandpa on my father's, father's side

Re: Anna Kawa, married to Andrej Gac
My great great grandmother, Magdalena Kawa, lived in Wola Cicha. She was born around 1891. She came to the US in 1909. She married Thomas Gawel in the US. They had a son named Edward Gawel. They may have had more children.
There are Christian Kawas and there are Jewish Kawas as well. Is/was your family Christian or Jewish?
