Re: Kavanaughs that lived in California, 1900 -
There was a Kavanaugh family that lived in East Palo Alto in the early part of the century. This is about 10 miles from Hayward. They had a farm in East Palo Alto until the 1950's when the farm was converted into a housing subdivision (which today has a Kavanaugh Street running through it). Most of the Kavanaughs are buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in nearby Menlo Park.

Give me a couple of days and I'll go to the cemetery (when it isn't raining) and copy the names and dates from the headstones for you.

Re: Kavanaughs that lived in California, 1900 -
I have been looking for a brother of my gr-grandfather James KAVANAGH who supposedly emigrated to California sometime between 1885 - 1900. The would have sailed from Birkenhead/Liverpool England and rumour has it that James 'drowned at sea'. In recent years 2 ladies from California who had been researching their family returned to Birkenhead and I got this news about 3rd hand with not names or locations. If any of your Kavanaugh (I know that the Americans seemed to have added a 'u' to the name) had relations from Ireland/Birkenhead I would love to know. Thank you. Angela
